The beginning of a new era: Carr and Masotti setup

I played Engl amps for the past 7 years and this era has come to an end as my last one will be picked up by it's new owner on Thursday.

This is what I am playing these days:

Carr Slant6V high powered version and a Masotti X100M Modern with 6L6 toobs. I actually use the rack for both amps, it makes pedalswitching etc very easy. Pedalshelf has Octafuzz, Dejavibe, TonePress, 2 Advance ODs and a AM Maxon SD9. Post-gain fx are SPX90, RSP550 and GForce. The setup is build so I can use it with my blues/bluesrock band (mostly pedals with some delay/reverb) and my coverbands (the whole schebang gets used).

The 2 Lenders-cab are loaded with different speakers, one has Emi Governors, the other Emi Wizards. The Wizards are a test after hearing them at the Musikmesse, they sound very open and clear. Governor-cab will mostly be used with the Masotti in the coverband(s) and the Wizard-cab with the Carr for my blues-gig. The last 12 months I played and/or owned most of the readily available 2x12s and those cabs from Paul Lenders are simply amazing. They have the spread of a good openback cab (THD) but they do not lack in bottom end and can compete with a 4x12. I used to play 4x12s almost all the time but do not need them anymore with those cabs.

Did you get that Carr from haarguitars?
I think he had one, and I was tempted to buy it, after having bought a Rambler from him earlier.

Yeah, bought it from HAar Guitars, it seems he has another one for sale at the moment. Mine was the very last one he had in stock, he decided to no longer cary the Carr brand

LOL, good point Leon, IŽll have to think about a new sig now. I have been spending more time in the FX-part of this forum but now that I have some new amps and more pedals than IŽd ever need, IŽll be spending more time again on this part of TGP.

Great Looking Rig and nice amp choices, I love the way those Masotti clips sound on their web site. Can't go wrong with the clean of the Carr amps either.

man, those Carr amps are terrific. Good choice! You've always had killer rigs and I think this is your best looking rig yet.

Pretty amazing after reading your posts at your Engl forum the last couple years! Now that you have the Carr maybe you'll cut me some slack for that post about how Engls are not for the blues. Great rig as usual, and looks a little more mobile than the 4x12 stuff. Let us know when you tour the states...

Thanks a lot guys. If somebody had told me a year ago that I would be without an Engl amp now, I would have laughed them in the face. But things change. Got the Masotti in June last year, got the 1st cab in July and sold my Engl cabs. Got the Carr early this year and the 2nd cab a couple of weeks ago. Totally loving every single tone I can get.

Hey Ben, yeah, Engl might not be IT for blues but nobody ever complained either
