What is the best over drive petal for clasic rock

I just recently picked up a Fender 72 Pro Reverb and used it in a small club. The problem was we were at such a low volume instead of having amp gain; I had to rely on an OD-2 over drive petal. I really wasn't happy with my tone. I was using a great 335 . I really need a good over drive petal to use. Any help out here or suggestions would be appreciated

Hey kimos55, it's pedal, not petal. I was gonna be a wise guy about it, but fadetowhite519 beat me to it.

Does that make a lovepetal a rose?

Anyway, for Stones-ish classic rock, I have had good mileage from a Keeley BD-2 or from a fuzz with the volume knob to help clean up. I also really like an OD-3 or a Timmy. . . . . and the ole RAT.

It sounded good to me bro. You definitely are getting good tone out of that rig and you SHOULD be questioning the thousands you have tied up in all that other gear. I think I need to go look in the mirror now.

I just got a Skreddy Screwdriver and it screams classic rock. The old standby tubescreamer would also do the trick I suppose. A few of the songs in your setlist would probably help this cause alot as "classic rock" is only a tad more descriptive than "music on the radio"...

The ZVex Box of Rock screams classic rock.
And the 'Vexter' version can be had for under $200.

Menatone makes a pedal called the Blue Collar that has that classic rock vibe to it...I think someone is selling one in the emporium for pretty cheap.

Indeed--I've found it works great through a mildly overdrive amp also...

How much OD are you looking for? Do you need it for rhythm or lead? Do you want multiple flavors or mostly just one? More Marshally or Fendery? Are you gonna use your guitar's volume to go from rhythm to lead, or just step on a pedal?
If you answer these questions, I'll bet we can find just the right pedal for you.
