pentatonic scale content

I have a question ont he pentatonic scale?

we all know that it's frets 1 and 3

Are there many different ways using these frets for this scale? because today I was playing guitar and messing around with the scale and it DSounded dang good at 80 beats per minute though.

forth and third fingers on the second and third frets. going all the way up and down sounded good musically. and I was wondering if it's a part of the scale?

Pentatonic extension for the Am/Cmaj Pentatonic

Am/Cmaj Pentatonic Scale:
-------------5-----------8------------------
-------------5-----------8------------------
-------------5-------7----------------------
-------------5-------7----------------------
-------------5-------7----------------------
-------------5-----------8------------------

This Pentatonic is commonly extended to:
-------------5-----------8-------10---------
-------------5-----------8-------10---------
-------------5-------7-------9--------------
-------------5-------7----------------------
-------------5-------7----------------------
-------------5-----------8------------------

A simple extension of the Am/Cmaj Pentatonic is:
------3------5-----------8-------10---------
------3------5-----------8-------10---------
-------------5-------7-------9--------------
-------------5-------7----------------------
------3------5-------7----------------------
------3------5-----------8------------------

A more complete extension of the Pentatonic is:
------3------5-----------8-------10---------
------3------5-----------8-------10---------
-------------5-------7-------9--------------
-------------5-------7-----------10---------
------3------5-------7-----------10---------
------3------5-----------8-------10---------

A more complete extension of the Am/Cmaj Pentatonic is:
-0-------3------5-----------8-------10---------
----1----3------5-----------8-------10---------
-0----2---------5-------7-------9--------------
-0----2---------5-------7-----------10---------
-0-------3------5-------7-----------10---------
-0-------3------5-----------8-------10---------

You can get the higher frets by adding the open notes to the 12th fret and add 12 to all the notes shown,

you can also use several Penatonics, the chords in the song will tell you what Penatonics will work, if you have the chords Am, D, G you can use the A Minor Pentatonic, D Major Penatonic, and G Major Penatonic. You don't have to follow the chord progression, just use the notes in all the Penatonics. Its an easy way to expand your playing.

Does that answer your question BluezHound

This is why I love TGP. A question, a misunderstanding, an explanation, a detailed, graphic, yet simple answer, an enlightenment, a thank you. This site has more of these kind of threads than any other site I've been to. On several sites this question would have had 3 people banned for life and 2 guys threatening to meet in an alley somewhere, and been 10 pages long. Good job guys!!!

I so agree :AOK
Gj Austinrocks....

BluezHound I would recommend the Fretboard Logic for you.
http://www.amazon.com/Fretboard-Logi...7077771&sr=8-1

It's a good practise to learn for example where to play D major chord
up and down the neck and then learning the D major scales around the
chords, linking scales to chords helped me out alot.
Learn where the root, third, fifths and the sevenths are, maybe sounds
like alot but it really isn't, it's going to help your soloing out alot.
What I do when I solo over chord changes and I'm following the changes
I just picture the major or the minor pentatonic scale for the chord and
if I want to add more notes to the solo I just add notes from the major/minor scale.

Hmm, Was I the one that had the misunderstood?
No, just didn't have enough facts.

As far as pents, have checked out the box system?

this is all the same minor pent

..........box1......................box2.......... .........box3
|--------------5-8--||--------8--10--||----------10--12-|
|---------5--8------||---8-10--------||----10-13--------|
|-----5-7-----------||-9-------------||-12--------------|
|---7---------------||---------------||-----------------|
|-------------------||---------------||-----------------|
|-------------------||---------------||-----------------|

...........box4............................box5
|------------12--15--||--------------15-17--||
|------13-15---------||-------15-17---------||
|---14---------------||-14-17---------------||
|--------------------||---------------------||
|--------------------||---------------------||
|--------------------||---------------------||

These are well worn paths of expression
