6l6 swap with el-34? Bogner Shiva??

I have a Bogner Shiva it has el-34 tubes. Can you switch back and forth with 6l6's? Is the two different versions voiced differently in the pre-amp sections? I also have other amps that I would like to try this to see how they would sound. They are both 8 pin tubes and approx the same power dispersion. What do you think???

No you cannot. Contact Bogner before you try it. The transformers for the EL34 vs. the 6L6 versions are completely different.

a 6L6 amp can be modified to accept either a EL-34 or a 6L6. It's actually pretty common - and I have seen a few amps that come stock that way now.

I would contact them and find out if their amp is already wired as such or not. If it is you only need to rebias. If it is not, you are in for a shockingly explosive surprise.

In case you haven't contacted Bogner yet-
you can't change the el-34s to the 6l6s. As Scott already said, you have to have Bogner change the transformer.

Not neccessarily! EL34 draw more cathode current and the power transformer may not be able to support this. Consodering the amount of tubes in the Shiva, my guess is that you can not put EL34's in the 6L6 model, but maybe the other way around.
