Question about Pedaltrain and power supplies

Hey all,

I'm thinking about ditching my NGM Standard pedalboard in favor of a pedaltrain board (probably the pro). Right now, I am using a combination of one (or two) Godlyke adapters with daisy chains and a wallwart (for my Dejavibe) plugged into a power strip to power all the pedals.

I am wondering - is there enough room under a pedaltrain board to mount a power strip for these adapters? Will I need to make any modifications to the board? I have considered switching to a Pedalpower 2+, but I have read that the board will need to be modified to fit the PP2 underneath. If I can avoid the added expense and trouble of buying the PP2 (i'm happy with my Godlyke adapters) and having the board modified that would be ideal. I've seen all the really great PT boards which look really clean and streamlined, and i'd like to hide the power supplies, and keep mine neat and streamlined, so mounting it on top would be less than ideal!

Anyone have any info on whether or not a power strip can be mounted neatly without any additional mods to the board? Am I better off just sucking it up and buying a PP2 and having the board modified?

Thanks!

Brian

You can get the board (already modified for a PP2+) from Jakeddy on this board. That's what I did, and it worked great. Because it's underneath, I've got full space on top for more pedals...

Thanks bro! Just so you'll know, I've done a couple of Pro's for two Pedal Powers underneath. Some guys need a PP2+ and a PP AC.

I'm also talking to a couple of guys about mounting Axess GRX4's and buffers under there too.

You will have a hard time fitting a couple of wall warts underneath it. I had a hell of a time coming up with a way to put anything under there. It needs to be angled up a bit more in my opinion. I have a hard time hitting the buttons on the pedals in the second row. Angling it up more would solve both problems. The low angle is the only thing keeping me from really loving my PT Pro.

jakeddy,

Slight derail here
Have you had any experience modding a Pedaltrain to fit a JuicBox (v003) underneath yet?

Thanks

Take a small drill bit and core out the rivets that hold the feet on. Then drill and tap out the holes in the legs for some adjustable feet. These will have a screw thread of about 1/4 to 5/16. Before you screw the adjustable feet in add a jam nut on their threaded part and when you get the height set where you want it, jam the nuts up against the legs. Not too tight and that will suppourt the weight better without stripping the aluminum.

Yes, it will fit a Pro without any mod just by velcroing it to the frame. It will clear the floor.

A Jr or a 2, I haven't tried that yet.

here's a link to the adjustable feet and they even have threaded inserts for them.

if you could find the right size you could just hacksaw off the end of the leg and install the insert. Another option would be to find a smaller round insert and drill to the correct size and install.

The PP2+ is safe to be directly under pedals without any hum or buzz coming through. If you're thinking about another supply, be sure to try it first to make sure it doesn't buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
