Is this Gibson Frampton Custom Shop a fake?

Ok, I admit this looks pretty legit, except I don't know if they made the guitar with a rosewood fretboard or not. All the ones I've seen have had ebony. Well here's a couple of pics...can you tell? The reason they are suspect is because they are about 1/3 of the price of any Frampton I've seen online!

The guy has 2 of them...

I'm not an expert on Peter Frampton models (seriously) but a few things bother me about the guitar pictured:

1. The strap buttons don't look like the Gibson model.
2. The Peter Frampton Les Paul models I've seen have a plastic ring on the three-way switch.
3. The Peter Frampton Les Paul models I've seen don't have covers on the pickups.
4. The Peter Frampton Les Paul models I've seen have ebony fingerboards.
5. And the kicker... Gibson says, "The Peter Frampton Signature Les Paul is available in Ebony only."

As for other models, I've only heard of a Peter Frampton Les Paul Special model, which is a burst and has dogear P90s. Nothing in white though.

All of which adds up to me being highly skeptical.

I know very little about Gibsons, but I thought one of the things you could do is check the serial number with Gibson themselves?

The one frrom the Gibson website is smaller but you can clearly see the signature are the 12th fret. That one I can't tell on my monitor if that's a signature or motteling in in the MOP.

Thanks guys...I don't know Gibsons very well. I'm almost afraid to buy them now, with the HUGE rash of fakes lately.

+1. gibson is really good about confirming serial numbers. You don't need to even call them as you can go on the gibson custom shop forum and ask for a serial number check.

I've already had confirmation that it is indeed a fake. They never made a white Frampton. Also even if I do call them and it is a real serial, what if the faker just got a real one off of a real Frampton?

Pretty obvious Chinese fake.
If you are inexperienced or uncertain about buying a used Gibson, shopping reputable dealers rather than fakebay might be the way to go.
