Never tried the Siemens tubes but I do use the NOS Tesla hexplate EL 84's in a Marshall 18 watt clone. I didn't know what the amp really sounded like until I put in these tubes. That's all I use in it now.

simens stuff usually sounds good too, so i guess its a win win.

+100 on the Teslas.

It's somewhat possible that these brands of tubes were "cross branded" at one time or another, and you could actually be talking about the same tubes.

Compared to what? Everything is relative. Certainly better than the JJs which mush out at high volumes.

Pretty much JJ's. I am looking for something with more clean headroom, I am using a valvetech hayseed. Got anything on your site that would work?? Telsa's sound good b/c of price!

Teslas are your best bet and best bang for the buck. Don't wait too long though, I'm down to my last 50 tubes from about 600 a year ago.

The Tesla EL84's are outstanding tubes. I picked up three from Mike a few months back. A pair for a Crate VC20R112, and the single for my Valve Jr.. They are some sweet tubes.

I watched as the "older" NOS tubes got more and more expensive as their numbers dwindled. I didn't buy when they were still affordable as I should have. EL84's like these Tesla's, and the excellent Polam/Telams, have been like a breath of fresh air to the NOS tube market in the last year or so.

All I can say to anyone who wants great NOS tone is, grab 'em while you can. Who knows if we'll see any more like them again.
