Roccaforte Amp's - Opinions, Please..

I am taking the plunge and buying a Roccaforte Custom 40 Head..

Any opinions out there about the sound quality of these,.. and what do they sound most like, Marshall Plexi?? Vox'ish sounds?? Neither of the two??

How is the build quality of these amps??

Thanks
Shane

P.S. If you have any pic's of your's I would love to see them, especially the inside wiring work!!!

I just bought a Custom 80 head and 4x12 cab. I couldn't be happier. The C80 is in the Marshall sort of vein, but it is so much better. The low end is amazing and it is just so damn thick. It is very, very loud, the 40 is probably more than enough. The C80 responds very well to your guitars volume knobs and to pick dynamics. It takes pedals very well and is just an amazing amp. The build quality is unreal. Solid as a rock. The wiring is all point to point, hand wired, and the head box and cab box are some of the sturdiest I have seen. It sounds great with all my guitars, and I have a ton of all different types from different manufacturers. Email Doug, he's great to work with and won't let you down.

I've got an HG100. Quite different than the Custom series.

I can say without hesitation that for my needs the Rocca is the best amp out there. Period.

And after going through so damn many amps that's really saying something.

Some folks like to...well.....say bad things about Doug but he has been very good in our dealings and he builds one hell of a great amp.

Best regards,

Brian

Built like Fort Knox and can replace the engine in a Ferrari F430.

Can't see why anyone would say anything negative about Doug. He's always been great with me, even gave me a demo at his house for a few hours. Oh yeah, his amps are awesome. I have three and plan on number four soon.

I have only demo'd the 80 and 10w models

They are BEASTS. Basically a true Marshall tone and feel with a little mid 80s stle hot rodding. sounds similar to Splawn clips. I can't compare them since I have never played a Splawn.

These amps have attitude and an old soul. My friend who was with me in the Demo still prefers old Marshalls, but I haven't seen too many new amps with that kinda tone.

You know what? It also sounded similar to a 55w Germino I played, only it was like the gainy/nasty version of it.

Very Nasty!

Doug builds great amps period.
The only negative thing I can say about him is that he's one stuborn guy.
I can't get him out to exhibit at the AMP SHOW no matter how many girls I loan him for his band.

What I like about my Custom 30 is how it feels when I play it. There's a bounce that 6V6's produce when hit hard and Doug has found a way to tap out all the gain without losing articulation. Yeah, I'm loving mine!

I have a Custom 30 and 18. I love them both, but the C30 is special. It sounds the way a rock amp should sound to me.

I have the HG30 and it is a killer amp. Low end thump like no other amp. Sounds in the marshall zone, but thicker. Great great amp, but I am selling mine if anybody is interested.

Me too! The Custom 30 is one of my favorites, I have JJ KT77's in mine right now. These are hand made one at a time, Mercury Mag transformers and solid cab work. I have a 4x12 and a 2x12 also.
