Peterson Tuners
Looking at the V-SAM tuner- Anyone use these or is the strobostomp just as good. I sort of envisioned that I could set this on my half stack and just reach over and transfer the cable when I needed to tune up. Is there an alternative for less $$ that is as accurate??

All the Peterson tuners feature the same level of accuracy. The different models support different features and useability

The Peterson virtual strobe tuners claim accuracy to +/- .1 cents, and seem to cost around $190 - $200.
The Turbo Tuner (chromatic strobe) from Sonic Research claims accuracy to +/- .02 cents, and costs about $130. I bought a Turbo Tuner about a month ago and am fully satisfied with it so far. Less money and significantly higher accuracy. Seemed like a no-brainer to me. |

I have a VS11 and am not happy with it, gonna sell it and find something else. It's jumpy and difficult to read. Maybe a Turbo Tuner....

Does the Peterson V-SAM stand up tuner do Feinten tunings? Does the Turbo Tuner do feinten tunings as well??

+1 on the Turbo Tuner. It's trivial to program the Feiten offsets into it. I use it with two BFTS guitars as well as my mandolins. It's sturdy, has a nice user interface, and the builder is a cool guy.

Turbo gives you a price guarantee, might as well get it from them for the 130.
I am interesting in its buffer and if it degrades sound in a big way....I would like to maybe get one, this is the first I've heard of it. |

no worries for me with true bypass because I'll either keep it on my amp or use a true bypass A/B switch, but can understand the need for it.

Jettisoned the V-Sam for the Strobostomp. Just made alot more sense for me. If you've got a pretty good ear, I've found that the Strobostomp isn't terribly hard to use. JMO.

I'd say if you're going to put it on your amp, get the strobostomp and run your cable through it, that way you can hit it and tune without any messing around. I use a VSAM at home for tuning and intonation, but live I use a Boss TU-2, the TU-2 is good enough for my live needs.

do you turn your volume down (about 1/2)? It won't jump around if you do.

Yeah that's good advice, what I do is switch to my single coil neck pickup. No Jumpy.
