remove your chorus pedal. unless you are in a police/ rush cover band. this will greatly improve your tone. everything else looks great. you are welcome.

Also you could stick in a set of Marconi 6v6's and re-bias to around 22mA. I did and i like it. kcatubes. Oh yea, I put the CRex in mine. Took all the "ice-picky" high end frizzle out of Ch2 when using your crunch boxes. Nice mod the bright-cap clip too. Enjoy \m/

Not to be picky, but changing out the tubes and the speaker isn't a mod. The bright cap, however, is a minor one.

Hi Rooster,

I see what you mean I intended as 1)Mod. 2)Tubes. and 3)Speaker. as three different sobjets.

Thanks

I had a tech do the bright cap clip. It's not to hard to do, and I've seen numerous posts around here with the schematics to do it yourself, do a search, I'm sure you'll find something. And not to be picky, Changing tubes, and or speakers is modding the amp! As far as I'm concerned when you take something that was "stock" whether it be cars, guitars, motorcycles, or amps, and change out anything to make it perform better, be it tubes, and or speakers, it's callled modding. IMHO.

FWIW, I like the T-S 12ax7 RIs. So far been playing throught them for a few months on my PRII (and a Boogie) and they're great!

While I don't know the specific tube map of the DRRI, I am guessing you went with the Mullards in specific positions for tonal reasons. I did the same (in both the Fender and the Boogie) and with some experimentation liked what I got. The Mullard in the Fender, particularly, smoothed out the highs/upper mids and OD color (I play a Strat, too).

As for spkr, lots seem to like the CR. From what I recall reading, it may attenuate some of your highs ...good, if your setup is bright overall (I have no personal experience with the CR personally). FWIW, I tried both the Red White and Blues and the Swamp Thang in my PRII and both are awesome speakers. Very "big" sounding with a tight, solid bottom and very smooth/defined notes all the way up. The ST was a bit more "jangly" if you want that; the RWB a bit more subtle and balanced. I went with the latter, but since your cab is larger than my PRII's, you may just want to try out a ST.

Edward

Thank you for your replay Edward so thumbs up for the Mullard and I think the speaker is going to be a CRex.

Just know that there isn't any guarrantee the a particular tube brand will create a magical tone. You could have 50 mullards, and only one sound good in your amp. I've posted the reasons manytimes, I'm sure its in the archives here.

Agreed wholeheartedly with Roccaforte! I've actually removed a Mullard from a spot because it did sound "right." So yes, experimentation is the key.
