Alternatives to MAZ Jr

What are some of my alternatives to a Dr. Z MAZ Jr??

I don't want a Marshall, has to be similar to Dr. Z Maz, same price range, or lower is fine too!! Reverb, combo, hand wired would be nice... Probably something around 18 watts.

Lets hear it.

Thanks

I sure like my Bad Cat Classic Cat better than my Maz I (I have a Sr though). My Cat doesn't have reverb but they do make them with it. awesome amp.

Bad Cat Cub II R. Less strident, more harmonic complexity with a sweeter high end than the Maz Jr.

Bikedude is on the something with his Super 17. They pop for sale on TGP. I like my Bogner Metropolis 15 watter, 2 EL84, reverb, Schizo. They show up on Ebay pretty often. $1200-1400 range

Best 2K I ever spent on musical equipment! The "17" is a very saweet amplifier, and IMHO absolutely smoked the Jr. in my sound comparison. I like the Z products, and Mr. Zaite is one of our hometown hero's, along with "King James", but for me the Goodsell is the shitzo.

Hey Picnic, r u still lugging your LSC? I hoisted mine out last week for a gig. Sounded pretty good, as we needed some extra volume, and I have been using EL34's, which I kind of like better than the 6l6's, but my back was sore for 2 days after the load in.

To echo Lefty, what don't you like about the Jr.? All of the MAZ amps I've played have a very unique "voice" that I associate with Dr. Z amps. There are definitely other handwired combos with reverb in that price range, but if you like the Z, nothing else is going to sound like it.

Just my opinion, though.

Top Hat Club Royale 2x12 Combo...not an alternative, I see the Top Hat as a Major Improvement

I owned a Maz jr about 5 years ago, along with a bunch of Top Hats, [and god knows how many other amps since then]....and to date, my favorite 2/EL84 amp is a Savage Rohr 15, 2/10 combo.... The Tones available are pretty amazing..sort of a cross between a Tweed Fender/Marshall/Vox..and great reverb...very sweet sounding, but can get real aggresive if you want as well....built like a tank!!
Second to that would be my Bad Cat Hot Cat 15 1/12 combo...sort of like the Savage, but with an anger rage problem!!!!
