What's the 'Definitive' Fender Tweed amp?

There's the 59 Bassman, 57 Deluxe, Tweed Twin, Tweed Champ etc. etc... so what in your opinion is 'The' Fender Tweed amp to look out for?

'59 Tweed Deluxe. If I'm not mistaken, the output tranny was beefed up compared to earlier Deluxe models yielding a little more headroom and bandwidth.

All things considered, the '59 Bassman. There are other tweeds that do a particular sound better but, IMO, the Bassman covers more bases.

VaughnC knows what he is talking about. The 4x10 Bassman is the most famous tweed amp overall and for good reason. The 4x10 Bassman is excellent at clean tones, overdriven tones and it has the right amount of wattage for most clubs. The 4x10 Bassman also sounds great with pedals. You can put any amp ever made next to a great sounding 4x10 Bassman and the Bassman will sound as good and in many cases sound better in the tone department.

The 4x10 Tweed Bassman is my personal favorite Tweed amp. I prefer it's sound over all the tweed amps. With this amp, a good guitar and a good pedal I can pretty much do everything I personally want to do sound wise from clean to overdriven tones.

Mike

You want to get kicked in the head with tone? No?

Yeah you should, IMHO, my Vicky 35310 will stand shoulder to shoulder with the best Tweed amps ever.

As far as vintage Tweeds, I've played extensively ona few different 1956 - 1960 Tweed Bassmans, 3 different 1959 Deluxes, about 10 Tweed Champs, and a pair of Princetons, and 1 Harvard.

My favorites were:

1. 1960 Tweed Bassman - now owned by forum member nmontz, it is THE tweed tone that I judge all others by

2. 1959 Tweed Deluxe - very gorgeous cleans on one example that came through a local vintage dealer, of course the overdriven sounds were also great, but the CLEANS on this particular example were outstanding.

3. TV Front Champ - amazing od tones, I dialed up Tush in a hurry. There is no doubt, that record was cut with a Les Paul and a Tweed Champ.

For me it's the 2x10 5F4 Super. I love my Deluxe but the Super feels like "home."

Got to be either the 5E3 Deluxe or 5F6A Bassman. The Deluxe is just a kickin, screamin little demon, a righteous amp everyone ought to own at least one.

I used to have a Clark Beaufort, Deluxe clone. It was a great little amp for sure, made me more curious about the bigger tweeds like the Bandmaster I mentioned before.
I got interested in those when some guys on the LPF were raving about running a Les Paul through a tweed Bandmaster.

It's either the Deluxe Super Twin Bassman, or the Champ Tremolux.
