There is one clip on Indoor Storm's site but honestly this is not one of the beter clips. I love them and their site but this clip doesn't really allow you to tell too much about the amp. I tried that exact amp with a Suhr three humbuker tele body style guitar. I really liked it. It was smoother than a JCM800. If I get a Fuchs it would have to be the Overdrive Supreme though.

Just gone done running its through its paces. If you are looking for the best modern made JCM 800 with more gain look no further than this amp. Nice Marshall growl, tight bottom, plenty of bottom, and great master volume an loop.

Sure you can qoute me.

BTW I accidently got the single channel sent to me so I a havent got to try the first channel but the dealer is taking good care of me.

Im really digging this one though but is getting shipped back today as the two channel is on its way.

I think you have a very very nice amp on your hands here. I tend to like the Marshall voice but had a hard time finding a master volume amp whether it was a Marshall or some other builder that did it like I thought they should sound and that was not over the top gain, not fuzzy, not too muddy, not too bright etc. I'll be honest I had one of Doug Roccaforte's Custom 80's and it was by far my fav so far but I wanted a loop that wasnt an interupt and a master that didnt get so loud so quick. I think Doug has adressed some of those things withhis new amp but I thought Id give your amp a try. Glad I did! I think the Frost sounds just as good and has the features I was looking for. Great job!

Re Fuchs Frost

I've got a Frost here and it's simply wonderful. You can read my reviews on it here: http://www.michaellewismusic.com/for...hp?f=19&t=1787

and listen to non-heavy metal sample of the amp here:

http://fuchsaudio.com/samples.html -- scroll down to sample #13 "Fresh Perspective Rhythm track."

It cleans up nicely as well, I hope to make some samples of the clean channel soon.

Great review. I agree with you findings as well:

"Bottom line... Punchy! Very punchy! This amp is a great kick in the seat."

Yep very very punchy.

"When I get a chance I'll put it through it's paces and cut some samples for you. If you love Marshall tone, this is it and it doesn't get any better. Different then a Plexi, but it's the recognizable JCM 800 with Andy's original take on it. Very nice!"

Agree here as well. Thats why I started a thread on another board which stated I had "just played the best gainier JCM800 I had ever played."

It can be beefier than the 800 if you dial it in that way but as you stated about you can get it sounding nice and classic as well.

hey Andy, just curious, why the choice of 6550's opposed to EL34's in the design?

Tone and power output. The amp will take EL-34's with a minor feedback switching (move a wire) and a rebias, and it get a little darker and smoother overall, with a little less wattage. The 6550's have a unique girth which really sounds nice in the Frost. I'm actually playing with a 75-Watt clean amp project that uses two, and it sounds quite promising.

Great sounding amp Andy. I played one at Indoor Storm, and it sounded HUGE. Very punchy, articulate, and just ballsy. Great crunch and single note tones, and cleans up well with the guitar's volume knob.
