fender combo ideas help?

hi everyone im going to be looking into getting a new amp in the near future, and ive already got a marshall jcm2000dsl half stack, an epi valve junior, and a fender hot rod deville 410, im thinking i want to get a smaller fender amp 2 speakers at most, im thinking maybe a fender deluxe reverb mostly becuase ive heard good things about it and i dont want to spend a whole bunch, i plan on trying the amps out i just thought everyone could help me a bit, im going to be using it to record mostly, that and just practice, maybe a small gig, that is if it gets loud enough. any help is appriciated, from reccomendations to feedback on the deluxe reverb. thanks a bunch!

Lotta love for the DR RI around here, but the DR II is an impressive chameleon--very Blackface-style circuit on Ch 1 and a signature Rivera voice on Ch. 2. Trouble is that a lot of people had trouble with gain structuring Ch 2, what with the rather overmatched power supply, and either got screech or flabby low end. The good news, however, is that these things often go for cheap on EBay and especially in second-hand shops because they weren't real popular.

Tweaking all the knobs with some respect for that power supply will get you some terrific tones, but add a new speaker like a Weber or an RW&B and you have one rockin' little amp.

If you go the Deluxe Reverb route ...get a early 70s SFDR up to '73 or so. They are worth it and still a bargain IMO.

+1. DRs are great right up to the pull boost models of the late 70s. If you don't pull the boost, the amps are identical to the earlier models.

Try a Supersonic. I had one and loved it. I am thinking of buying another one.

I have a Blues Jr. that's pretty cool for jamming and rehearsals. New tubes and a decent speaker really took it up a few notches.

AFter 78 fender had a vol boost. Its on my 78 PR. It turns wonderful into tin. What Blue Strat is saying and not saying is; just don't pull the boost cause the amp is glorious and as good as any older silverface and becasue of this slight issue they are more affordable.

I had a DRRI that was a problem child. When it worked, it sounded great. When it decided not to, it was the worst sounding POS you've ever heard. Nasty, ratty, blown power tube type sounds.

I had a very qualified tech in Nashville go through it from top to bottom and he found nothing wrong. The bullsh!t continued so I unloaded it.

However, that can happen with any mass produced amp and it was sweet when it felt like working. Intermittent problems are the worst.

Take this with a grain of salt. They are nice amps and if I needed something in that size again, I'd definitely consider another.

Good luck in your search.
