I love Suhr guitars, but no, it did not ruin my appreciation for other guitars.

I've only played a few Suhr's, but the couple Fender CS Strats I have blow away the vintage type Suhr's and my Tyler is hands down the best "rock strat" I've played.

Suhr's are fine guitars, no doubt, but just another nicely made take on Fender's bolt-on design IMO.

my fave is still my '89 american standard strat. but i'm close to ordering the landau spec suhr classic. i recently had a chance to demo some suhr classics against a bunch of fender cs strats and it wasn't even close. the suhrs were superior in every way possible. imo of course.

Actually, my Suhr experience made me realize how much I like the feel of a primitive guitar!

I've never played a better or more complete Tele than my Suhr. Having said that, my favorite guitar is a Glendale that feels like a club.

Suhr made me appreciate that guitar so much. I still think that Suhr guitars are brilliant, but my tastes run along a different line.

...which is why I specified an action which was higher than their usual one. :AOK

I have a recently-acquired Suhr classic, and if the proof of the pudding is in the eating, then I guess I'd have to say 'yes' to the original poster. I previously had an American Series tele, an American Deluxe strat and two USA Reverends. Well, since the Suhr settled down, I've played no other electric. One Rev and the Tele have gone. The others may soon follow. I can only afford one quality electric right now, and I'd like a guitar with a bigger output to complement this for practical reasons, but I'm very happy with the Suhr.

John and crew make a mature, pro-level instrument for grown-ups, not a toy. All the care and attention goes into making a better sounding and playing guitar. Bog-standard production line guitars have to be sold on the basis of bells and whistles, because the fundamental quality of the build and the raw materials isn't there 99% of the time. Now, that's no dig at those people who own and enjoy such instruments - after all, that was me for the first seventeen or eighteen years of my playing life - but once you've spent time with a Suhr (or similar, high-quality, well set-up instrument), it's difficult to go back in an uncritical manner. In fact, I would rather own one of these than any four other guitars (which is the way I'm going...until I can afford another Suhr for humbuckery..)

I think, in many ways, that I had four guitars because I was always dissatisfied, but didn't realize guitars could be this good.

Actually, the main thing for me was to get a guitar that was comfortable to play, being long-fingered and with large hands. (Went for even C slightly-thicker-than-medium, 1 11/16") This is.The absolutely awesome acoustic tone is a bit of a bonus.

"No" as perfect playability is the starting point not the end.

As much as I love my Suhr Standard it hasn't changed my perception of my pre Suhr guitars. I have a 1991 EBMM Morse that is the benchmark for every guitar I have tried since I bought it new. My collection isn't terribly diverse but the Suhr has been a welcome addition to it.

I'm pretty much ruined. Not many guitars play and sound as well as my Suhr's. I know there are other guitar makers out there that are at that level, but my search is done, so is my wallet.

No. I owned two Suhrs through the years, sold both and not looking to pick up another.

I'm finding alot of my other guitars are not seeing much action these days, I sort of grab my Suhrs & go. I can concentrate on the music, not guitar issues.

I just got my first Suhr(Standard) last week after two years of himming and hawing. Had 2 Custom Shop Strats that were returned very quickly this past year.
I am somewhat shocked at how freeking good this guitar is and am now afriad that my other axes(many very good ones) will simply pale in comparison, which of course will lead to wanting more Suhrs. Yikes!!!!

Peace,
Duffy
