Spazzard Profile: Rough Live Sonic Scribblings & Running Out Of Wanking Fuel...

but all for frolic & fun.

another live boot clip from a very recent monday night @ the baked potato in the city of lost angels.
noodling on a classic soft machine jam.

http://www.johnzguitar.com/hazardplive.mp3

bernard galane- drums
jamie kime(from the ZPZ zappa plays zappa band) - guitar(right)
chris roy - bass
and spazzy McZ on guitar(left).

burny 335 w/arcane pickups into bogner uberschall rig.
*around 2:25, my cable gets stuck under the old wah! :AOK
and after that it's pretty much all downhill with the harmonizer and shtuff,
running outta ideas and gas! monsta-clams unite!

monday nights = cathartic.....cathartic......

Hey John, sorry if you already have something like this to your credit – or in the works for that matter, but you should seriously consider sharing your encyclopedic knowledge of rock (and related) riffs, lines, sequences, phrases, development trends, and so forth in some sort of published instructional media. I’m sure your are more than well aware of the many great books out there in the jazz and blues styles, but I don’t know of anything that is geared for a guy/gal who wants to seriously study ROCK soloing that is organized with the same quality instruction and content as you see with the Jazz books in particular. I bet if you put a book together, you could pitch it to REH, Mel Bay, MI press, etc. It would be a truckload of time and effort, but it would fill big void. Sorry, but not only does this stuff make me want to drive up to LA and drink, it brings out my inner nerd.

Killer, Mr. Z! And I really dig the understated comping that Jamie's doing as well.

hi john, thanx for your thoughts and ideas. i really appreciate it.
i've been teaching on and off for around 20 years now, and i've definitely got a stockpile of goofy geetar/musical(?) info....
lots of it that's been developed on my own through all the stuff i've gravitated towards and digested over the years,
while trying my best to NOT just rehash others' licks and concepts.
and i most definitely like to share that stuff with my students and friends.
actually i did get approached recently through one of my students who's great friends with don mock,
and he's still very involved with educational material and has expressed an interest in the sort of thing you're talking about.
so who knows? maybe someday(when i'm not being in too much of my normal slacker mode) i'll figure out something like this.
in the mean time, gigging, teaching, and whatnot....

jam on!

John,
As per usual you manage to create, in this case 6:14 of pure excitement dude!
"trying my best to NOT just rehash others' licks and concepts." Here in lies what is so cool about your playing :-)

If you get a minute, I for one would love to see your input on this thread http://www.thegearpage.net/board/sho...d.php?t=257137

The strangest thing happens as I listen to you and a few others here, most certainly including Jimma. All of my picks line up, and seem to point and laugh at me shaking their little pick heads in shame... Ah the glory to be your pick :-)
Rock on dude

HJ

thanx a bunch.
jamie is seriously one of my favorite guitar players of all time!
i'm super lucky to get to play with him...and that he puts up with my shtuff! lol
his knowledge is VAST...and his playing & concepts are totally awesome!
plus, it doesn't hurt that he studied with ted greene for well over 10 years!:AOK
i just wish more rubs off on me each week!
btw, this is for anyone reading, if the ZPZ zappa plays zappa band comes near your area....GO!
jamie gets to bust it out from time to time on that gig.

kingpin!
