Anyone ever use/try GHS Boomer Bass Strings??
Anyone ever use GHS Boomer Bass Strings. I have the opportunity to buy a box of 6 for 50.00 (sealed). If you have used them can you comment on the tone. These are the roundwound medium guage 45's to 105's.
I appreciate any help you can offer.

never used them before, but when I bought my '69 J-bass several years ago it had a set of light gauge Boomers (.095) installed. When it came time to change strings, I went through several of the usual suspects but nothing worked nearly as well as the Boomers on that bass; that's what's back on there now.
I find them very balanced, with a lot of punch. The current set has been on there for six months and they still sound clear, lively, and in tune. /rick |

The bass player in my band swears by them for rock. I imagine they'll do for bass what they'll do for guitar - bright and punchy. They seem to stay that way for a while too.

I just bought a set of the heavy Boomers today, I'll let you know what I think of them once I get'em on.
