Compressor for Bonnie/Lowell slide sound

I needs me one. I know this has been discussed here before, but thought I'd ask the pedal gurus again in case any 'new sh*t has come to light, man' (to quote Jeff Lebowski). I've got a Tone Press that I use every now and then for nice light compression, and a little Guyatone that fits on the board, I've been using for slide along with a Mosferatu for a good Derek Trucks-ish slide sound. I like the sound fine, but it's pretty noisy...

Now we're doing some Feats and Bonnie Raitt stuff and I want that Bonnie sound: a little grit (got plenty of good dirt boxes for that) and nice ringing sustain, without squashing the crap out of the tone. Anyone have good suggestions for that?

Thanks y'all.

I believe Lowell George used 2 Dyna Comps - one on all the time and the second for his singing slide tone....

the Analogman Bi comp is good for this sort of set up :AOK

The Juicer side of the Bi-comp will add some grit - it's pretty thick, but not as much as the Ross side. Definitely worth checking out.

I'm pretty sure they both used an Orange Squeezer type comp for smooth sustain and a little grit, but the "extra" bit was a touch of phaser.

this will probably draw flames but, I'd bet that if Lowell were alive today he'd probably be using the compulator from demeter. He and Bonnie both were big fans of Ry Cooder and Ry's slide technique had a lot of influence on them. It is true that Lowell used 2 dynacomps on occasion, his studio rig was often 2 or more old school studio quality compressors. Ry worked with Demeter to develop their trem and I'm pretty sure he is using their other pedals too.

Bonnie, if I remeber correctly, has been using just stock Boss compressor's for awhile, but I think it is out of convenience... if you are on a hard toneseek... i'd at least go try out one of the demeter's as I think their goal is to capture the sound you seek.

or not.
