6 string bass help!!!

I am a guitar player but enjoy playing bass. I am looking at getting a 6 string bass but tuning it like a guitar since I will be MUCH more able to do cool stuff like playing chords and what not. I am looking for a bass that has the strings a bit closer together than the monsters out there. I know they exist but I may have to special order one or make it myself.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

PM replied sir. I am trying to keep the scale length around 34" or so. Ernie Ball makes a similar guitar to the baritone one.

By the way, the one I emailed you about is already tuned E-E. I use a set of D'Addario light guage .100 to .040 and then add a wound .028 for the B and a .025 for the E. Works great.

BTW, I owned the Ernie Ball guitar for a while. It's a very nice instrument but the scale is a little too short to actually use it for bass. The strings feel too rubbery and it doesn't have enough resonance to sound like a bass. You can use it with baritone or bass tuning.

I've got two lefites.

A Jerry Jones E-E and an SX (Rondo) B-B (I like the high B rather than C). Both are great fun.

The Jerry works for those tic-tac parts but also allows chording and pretty quick single note runs, i.e. the John Jorgenson baritone part on the first album Hellecaster theme, as well as "real" bass with the tone rolled off.
