For anyone who has used this speaker, please provide your impressions? Thanks!

I had a 4x10 with them and still have the speakers awaiting a new cabinet.

I plugged a 5e3 deluxe into the 4x10 and that amp sound really punchy and soulful through it. Completely different to how it normally sounds. It reminded me of Robert Cray with a strat.

I also plugged my 18 watt marshall clone into it and it sounded awful. I was going for crunchy rhythm sounds with it and the top end just sounded harsh.

So, they had punchy low end and a nice sort of 'sting' for blues, but didn't do it for me for rock.

A friend of mine swears by a mesa 4x10 with 2 of these speakers and 2 jensens.

Thumbs up Celestion G10 Vintage?

Some have said that the G10 vintage is the 10" version of the Vintage 30.

I disagree completely. I hate V30's, & when I first installed a G10 in my Super Champ, (it replaced an EV 10),I was sceptical.

But given time I became very happy with the tight woody tone of the G10.

Opinions are that it's a bit dark,(I agree), but, if that's your thing, then fine.

I then had a Mongotone,(solid polished mahogany), 4 X 10 cab built & Installed 4 G10's. Now I'm really convinced about this speaker.

Powered by my Fuchs OD 100 Mod, it "REALLY" acheives the tone I was after.

Are these real Celestions or the 'made in China' variety?

I don't know about that speaker but I like the G12L-35s that come in the Marshall 1965, 4 X 10" cabinets very much. You can usually get the cabinet with four of the already installed for under $300.00.

Yes, these and almost all of the other Celestions are now made in China. I think the Alnico and Neo are the few not made in China.

I had the original Ipswich, UK version and didn't care for it at all--way too dark.

Perfect, I like dark sounding speakers. It's bright that I want to avoid.

For me "dark" wasn't just the absence of brightness. It was also a bit muddy and in general lacking in any special character. I would get a Weber Silver Ten before this speaker anyday.

Have 2 Brit ones made from 6 years ago in a Blueverb 2-10 cab to go with my Blueverb head. I think they sound good with the 'verb and my Marshall 2061X. I thought they were a little boomy in the bass, but otherwise are okay. Have a Scumback SA1075 on the way to replace one of the speakers for more tonal variety.Didn't Celestion recently reissue these 10's? I haven't see them for about the last 2-3 years

If they are made to the specification of and sold by the Celestion company then they are "real" Celestion speakers.
Where they are made would seem to be irrelevant.

Damian.

So is that why the UK made Celestions are highly sought after, while the Chinese Celestions are regarded as 'cheap and inferior'?
