Rice Nubcaster

Thanks to Rich and Chris for building me such a fine guitar. Great guys to work with and the guitar was delivered on time as quoted. The reason for the nubcaster and a wide nut starts with a tale of woe. I was using a router table with a 3/4 inch roundover bit making a dowel and faster than you can say the word nip the board grabbed and took my left index finger across the bit. Aputation of my finger happened right below the nail bed. As you can guess any time I try to play strings adjacent to the fat ball on the end of my index finger I get string buzz. But on a classical neck it's no problem so I thought why not have it fatter at the nut. The balance between the pickups is perfect and the wiring configuration used for the split sound is the best I've had to date. Oh thats 1.950 at the nut. Thanks again guys.

It is wired very similarly to yours, with the 5-way and the half-tapped settings.

Thanks for letting us build this guitar, it was an enjoyable process and an even more enjoyable guitar.

I love the color combo of the body, guard, and neck. I bet that's an amazing guitar.

No Disclaimer: I feel your pain. About 30 years ago I cut off the tip of my fret hand index finger in a miter box. They sewed it back on but I have the opposite of yours. My tip is about 2/3 size of the others. It "molts" about once a year where the skin peels off. It's always somewhat more tender than normal but at those times it downright hurts to play. That is a beautiful guitar. I hope to someday get a Rice Custom myself. Good luck with your new "weapon"!

That finish & the way the grain pattern works with the body shape are stunning. I am so psyched to be getting a Rice soon!
