Way Huge Prices

Prices of these things just keep going down. The recent camel toe sold for less than $1000 on ebay less than 10 minutes ago. I guess the word finally got out that the toes were just average sounding hardly worth the prices people were paying. Even at 1000 this price is way high. I made the mistake of buying one of these a couple years ago for a tone fortunatley I was able to sell it for what I paid. Bought a time machine boost and pocketed 1200 bucks. Better tone by far better price.

I use to own SN#001. I bought it directly from Jeorge. They are great pedals and their price is cyclical. Give it a couple months and they will come up...watch, it happens every year.

Interesting theory but all the other pedals have been selling for half what they did 1 year ago and I don't see it getting better. I got stuck with 2 aqua puss pedals last year and can't sell them for what I paid. I didn't realize at the time I bought them they were just an EH memory man.

I just scored an Atomic Echo Clone in trade and haven't been able to find too much talk about them here. I guess it's a clone of the Aqua Puss. Can anyone comment on it?

Yes, built by music toyz with leftover aqua puss PCB's.

As far as prices, they fluxuate.

However, the Aqua Puss is a very impressive echo pedal. Jeorge really nailed it.

The build quality is quite outstanding and really set the bar for "boutique" building. I think Jeorge has a great ear and I'm glad to see his talent being used with bigger industries.

I was selling my aqua puss, but now I'm keeping it since I've been using it on some lap steel tracks (lap steel+puss=match made in heaven!)

I don’t expect Way Huge pedals to maintain their prices over the long term. They have been out of production for years now. If you look out another 15 years or so, most people who have been playing less than 20 years will not be familiar with the Way Huge brand. Eventually they will fade into obscurity and down their prices will go.

Ohhh, that just sucks... nothing like having a $700+ Memory Man! I knew it was just a lot of hype surrounding these pedals. Anyway, there's a lesson to be learned here, buy gear for the tone, NOT for investment. Sorry to hear about that man.

or i could see the opposite happening, thye can fade, but become mythical, and after that much time i supposed less and less would still be available, so i would think their prices would rise.

I don't see prices continuing to go up without the brand continuing to exist as well. What is the most valuable vintage gear from the 50s and 60s? It is largely dominated by brands that are still prominent today (Fender, Gibson, Marshall, etc).

I don't see that happening with Way Huge. Maybe some of the smaller boutique brands that pop up and disappear within a few years, but Way Huge was one of the pioneers of boutique pedalmaking. They became staples of a lot of famous bands' boards, and have been extensively featured in guitar magazines over the years. They're pretty legendary, and I think they've got quite a bit of staying power.

My guess is that even the most common ones (like the Green Rhino) won't ever drop below about $350.

Ampeg, Arbiter, Marveltone

Just about anything that was an established brand in the 50s and 60s is pretty valuable. And some of the stuff saw a revival when it was bought out by another company (like Dunlop/MXR; Roland/Boss; etc).

Maybe Jeorge is holding out until someone makes the right offer to take over the Way Huge name...

Well its sort of a different dynamic.....

'Boutique' pedals are still really only about 10 years old...

'Vintage' is more tied to Rocks founders - Blackface,Tweed,Plexi,Flametops,Slabboards etc... are all tied to an earlier time getting the tone of the 'old masters'

and then peole want the Fuzzfaces and univibes, echoplexes to go with those sets....... its more about recreating something.....

Collecting Boutique stuff is a different vibe - its more about the present and the future - what makes the best sounds now and what is likely to continue to be valuable in the future.... and its continually evolving,,,its more like keeping the latest gadgets in your kitchen or tools in your garage........and then hanging on to the ones that have meaning for you (that old beat to crap Fulldrive that survived countless spilled beers ~~~ etc..) .......

and alot of the people that are into this search now got in in the last few years - after Way Huge was Way Gone ...

So maybe most of the people that wanted them for nostalgic reasons already have them and everyone else is scratching there heads why......

like I came up with Blackface and Marshall amps - the best amps had black tolex. :BEER Why would anyone want that nasty old tweed stuff?

Personal Vintage vs. Universal Vintage......
