Analogman Delay

saw a few up for sale in the Emporium but none over at AM's site...

I thought Donners and Fatbacks demos sounded great...

anyone get one recently?

Still lovin em?

Does it hold together with a cranked gain box goin through it?

Chow,
Seegs

Still lovin' it. Delay is my favorite and most important effect, and I don't even waste time looking at other delays anymore. Granted I have no use for tap tempo or long delays, but if that fits your bill, I'd pick one up. I've gigged with it twice since I got it, and we record all our gigs so I can tell you, my tone was AWESOME, and the delay was a huge part of it.
I used it after SG>SPP, SG>HBE DosMOS (one channel on only), Strat>Silver Kiss, Strat>Juicer>Nebula>DosMOS (both channels on), Strat>Juicer only, it sounded great on every song I used it for (and, obviously, I use it alot).
If you are just looking for a really warm sounding echo-type delay, don't waste your money on $3-400 units, just get one of these and never look back.

How does the sound of it compare to the analog setting on the Boss DD-20, which of course is digital ?

I also dont need long delay but would like a single pedal that sounds like that DD-20 setting.

Thanks

Still loving it and keep it on all the time. I like the nice reverby nature of this pedal especially. It really adds ambience to a guitar tone. I am now pairing it with an old Maxon AD-9 and they sound great together.

The best way I can answer this (since I've never tried a DD-20, don't need all the bells and whistles), is to tell you how it compares to an Analogman-modded DD-3. Mike sells a modded DD-3 with a 3-way cut switch. At one setting it is the clean DD-3 signal, at another it is a mildly "cut" repeat signal (intended to sound more analog than digital), and the third setting is a deep "cut" (intended to sound as close to analog as a digital pedal can get). I used this pedal for years and was completely content to have the deep-cut sound as my echo/delay for life... until Mike started working on an affordable, true-analog delay. The DD-3 was so great to my ears, I had to hear what Mike's version of an analog delay would be. Now the DD-3 is an alternate pedal, and will be as long I have the AM delay. It's just got that super-warm analog echo with no frills. Everything I need (that I didn't even know I needed), nothing I don't.

sounds great guys...

what about the buffer in bypass mode?

I know the description says that the buffer is tuned but all buffers aren't created equal and all of the ones I have tried do affect your tone when off...some just do it more positively than others!!

anyone running it with a Klon at thebeginning of the chain and the AM delay at the end?

Chow,
Seegs

hmm 350 views and no buffer/Klon comments...I guess I'm gonna have to try one but this is proving to be a tough pedal to order...

I've been checking a couple of times a day and no luck...

Well if you look at the "availability" section at the bottom of the page, it says that he won't have any in until the 26th, so don't look until then.

I haven't noticed a buffer tone issue at all, but I don't use a klon pedal.

The buffer actually caused some trouble for me. I didn't like the effect it had on my signal -- you might, you might not -- and when I tried to solve that problem by putting it in a looper so it would just be in line when I used it, I noticed a significant volume drop when I routed my signal to the AM delay. (The volume drop wasn't there when I just had the pedal in line and turned the pedal off and on).

I still use it sometimes, but it ended up not being the delay pedal I was looking for because of this reason. Sound-wise, I think the dealy is great, so if the buffer is to your liking, it should work out fine for you.

Bill, it might be worth it to check with Mike about your unit. Not only have I had no (perceivable to me) changes to my signal, but I have had no volume changes either. In fact, one of my favorite things about AMs delay as opposed to most others I've tried is that I get no change in the quality/volume of my original signal. I have not heard anyone else comment about it either, so I worry maybe you got a bad unit. Mike is great about taking care of problems like that, so it might be worth it to contact him.
