Emoting Melancon T with Lori

This is a departure from the kind of CD's musical themes we've been producing so far.
Don't know if this will make it to final print, but thought it would be fun to share with you guys here.
So the engineer sent me this unmixed cut (like he usually does ...)
& for once my guitar is much too loud ...:BOUNCE

Lori just scatted some lines & faced off with me. We just have some fun trading 8th's
over this very cool, Kim Stone inspired, muted, sparse Latin-funk groove ...
Kim just set it up & we went for it, even though Weber hadn't arrived yet ...
It was just a once through jam ... (The producer hasn't even heard it ...)

The axe is my Melancon Chambered T, overdriven of course.
Check it out. Please let us know how it strikes you ...
The song is called: Face to Faced

Fekken cool my brother!! Hooray for loud guitars!! I can get a better feel for your touch in more familiar tonalities, and you got the shiite! Ripping with maturity and taste....

What would be VERY cool, would be to make this a deep track about 30 seconds after the last track.
I keep hearing this moaning thing and I can tell it is your fingers. VERY COOL!

Guitar too loud? I rarely complain about loud guitar. Especially when it's played that well. Lori's voice seems to fit your music perfectly. She's one musician you'll want to stay in touch with.

It'd be interesting to hear the track with piano but I don't hear anything lacking as it is. I feel the tune lends itself to a more sparse production. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the tune.

Thanks so much Bro Emme ... What does "deep track" mean exactly... ?

Yeah, my fingers tend to moan at times (must be the Scorpio in me..)

Your humble opinion means a lot Gkoelling ...I was thinking of maybe suggesting Weber
do an overdub, but you're right... it does seem complete on to itself.

Lori's a gem... She could sing the most beautiful jazz, then turn around
& let looses with some high intensity. We were having a ball throwing
feelings back & forth at each other..

& thanks for the kind words about the guitar ...

You know, initially I was going to suggest more percussion. Then I realized it's all in there, the levels just need to be adjusted.

Great stuff.

Much better Joseph. Now she's sounds like part of the band. Great to hear you cook like that too.

Hey Jim ... Lori is now getting pretty comfortable being around us...
She's really cool to hang out with & is quite musical ...

Thanks for the 'cookin' comment ...
Yeah, there's whole other side to my playing that likes to dig in ...
Moving into that "intensely" having fun vibe ...

Great track. Some great playing from your good self, Dude. Not sure the guitar was too loud - I think everything else was just too damn quiet! Sometimes when I listen to my own stuff, I'm trying so hard not to be too biased toward the guitar I end up going the other way and some little nuances in the solo end up totally lost. Trust your own ears to tell you if it's sounding the way YOU want it to sound. All of that aside, it's a really good tune.

Stay cool!

Scott

I'd like to hear it with a somewhat cleaner guitar tone. I like the groove and it's a fun listen...late-night drinking music. But I'd like to hear what you can do with a cleaner sound.

I don't know anything about the mix, but that's an energetic and entertaining piece of music. Wish I could do that... I liked it!

...oh definitely include it! Once it is mixed, I imagine it will fit in fine...I liked it a lot because of your "emoting." It still sounds like the same band...even though the pianist wasn't there...can he still play on the track? You guys could "program" these tunes all together and play one long set...

Loads of fun, Joseph. Great groove and very cool communication. I really like the way you and Lori get into and out of each other's lines about 4:30 or so. I love the guitar! Great tone and chops with just the right restraint to keep me having fun.

So you like the Melancon, huh?
