TES vs. Echolution vs. Replicator vs. ?
I am going to take the plunge and get a high end delay. Of the three mentioned, what do you like and why. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the tone, noise and versatility of these and any other ones you think I should consider. Thanks.

IMHO i think the only one that qualifies as top end would be the TES. A harder decision would be between say the TES, Echoczar, TTE or this baby... http://www.skrydstrup.com/pages/prod...ddl/index.html
Decisions...decisions...

I've only had experience with the Echolution. Very musical with great tones, but it was not especially quiet.

Okay, I was unaware of the last one and forgot about the TTE and Echoczar. Please comment on those as well, if you have opinions or suggestions.

TTE=Tube Tape Echo (Fulltone)... TES=Tape Echo Simulator (Pete Cornish). I'm not sure what the replicator is unless he meant the T-REX Replica

Sorry about the botched name. I was referring to the T-Rex Replica. Thanks for the input so far.

There's quite a big price jump between even the TTE and the TES, but I'm sure you already know that... I currently own a TTE, and have had a TES over at my house and compared them (not side by side though- which I should of- next time) and while I DO love the sounds of the TTE, there was just something about the TES that I really loved. It sounded so smooth and warm, and did a hell of a tape echo impression
Both are awsome, but I'd go with the Cornish if dough wasn't a problem, and if you're looking to get studio quality delays. Awsome pedal. Huge- but awsome. Maybe you could also look into the digiplex if you don't mind digital delays. It's one of the very few digital delays I'd ever lay my hands on... Looks awsome, but will run you almost as much as the Cornish unit... Take a look:http://www.ultimateguitargear.com/review_digiplex.htm That skrydstrup looks an awful lot like the Cornish (the older one), don't it?

I've been waiting over two years now for an Echoczar with all the trimmings (Angelbaby modulation box, expression pedal & custom cables) and have been using a Diamond Memory Lane in the meantime. If & when my name comes up on the Echoczar list, I'm gonna hafta come up with close to 1200 US dollars, and I'm starting to think that for that kind of money, I oughta go with a real tape delay, as I've already got a bunch of very good analog (bucket-brigade chip) and digital delays.
But I've never had one that runs on audio tape. My choice would be Mike Fuller's TTE - for a couple of reasons; way cheaper than the TES & a bit cheaper than a fully-loaded E'czar. The other reason is the tube circuitry of the Fulltone pedal. Even with the echo turned off, you've got a killer tube overdrive pedal as a bonus :RoCkInEDIT**** Just noticed I forgot about the other two you mentioned. With the ever increasing availability of "analog-voiced" digital delays, there's nothing particularly special about either of 'em, imo.. |
