Barely perceptible vibe makes clean sounds WAY better ??!!

I was playing around with my Sweetsound Mojo Vibe and was stunned when I rolled back the speed and intensity way back. My clean sound get really "round" and "soft." The mids sound so nice and the highs are still there but seem less "blunt" (oh, the joys of describing sound with words!).

Anyway, I really think I am hearing some Hendrix hear; you know those clean tones that totally knock you out. I'm not hearing the vibe per see, just a very nice effect on my clean tone.

Anyone else played around with this?

Has this recent rash of vibe talk gotten anyone else to break out their Hendrix dvd collections?

I always suspected as much, but now I can go ahead and get a Mojovibe. Great to hear!

I think you can get the same effects by using a chorus.

The original UV's do that even when they're not on...

I notice that with most opto devices, tremolo, chorus, compressor and so on.

I just got a TC Electronics Chorus/Flanger which has a pitch modulation option. Set it for subtle and it livens thing up nicely. It sounds like there's something going on but you're not sure what - in a good way.

I always used my Ultra with a fast setting mixed nearly off. Very BAD COMPANY sort of tone

I've been saying for a while...if you turn the vibe from Chorus mode, over to vibrato mode, and also have the intensity down (but the speed can be up some) so it is barely noticeable it also adds excitement and does nice things with tone. I mention it because I have seen a lot of vibe threads where several comment that they can't figure out even WHY vibe makes include vibrato settings.

I have/use a really crappy chorus pedal on my pedalboard (Dano Milkshake). I've had lots of others, but this one has 'the sound' that I like to be added from a chorus pedal.

I used to use it in a true bypass loop 'cause the pedals circuit is so shitty that with the pedal OFF, you can still hear the chorus - ever so slightly, but you can still discern there is a chorus pedal on somewhere within your tone.

For most gigs this is crap and I still use it in the loop, but for some gigs (depends on the band sound/setting/etc), I use it without being in the loop so that I can take advantage of the Sonic MSG the crapola buffer/bleed-thru effect, etc, gives me/my tone.

Strange but true...

I really like a very slow pitch vibrato on my clean tone.

No lie. I've always liked his rythym playing as much as if not more than his solos.

yeah the real univibes speed pedal goes down to zero but not actually off - so Im sure he would just pedal down when he has using it - or even just leave it on and pedal in and out ......

the BJFE mint green mini vibe has an amazing enhancer with the speed down - it compensates for what the modualtion does and it adds with just the circuit in and the speed down , Im sure others do too....

one I also really like is the dunlp Univibe CHORUS split to stereo and very slow - just gives it some life.......
