Rivera K-Tre Combo

HI ya'll, I was just wondering if anybody has experience with the Tre combo. I've already got 2 tre stacks and was thinking of picking up the combo as a practice amp and quick go-to amp for fast auditioning with new bands (and not having to drag my rig with me)

Can anybody say how it compares to the Tre head + 4x12? Does the low end stay tight at high volume? Does it still feel like a metal amp...or is it going into some other boutique type of territory?

Thanks very much for any info!

Hi, I played one in the store for about a half hour. My impression as well as that of the salesperson was that the gain is definitely modern sounding. The low end was probably the best I've heard on a 1x12. On the demo on the Rivera page it is noted that this amp has the most gain of any Rivera combo produced. Since I was in the store I obviously wasn't playing at gig volume, but it was definitely kick ass at moderate volumes. Now, if you are playing more classic rock stuff I would go with a Fandango or Quiana, etc, but if you are a modern rock or metal type guy and like the sound of the head and 4x12 I would say this amp would be a great way to go.

cool - thanks for the reply

Was it about the same size and weight of a regular 1x12 tube combo? I'm hoping it's small and easy to carry around

If I remember correctly it is about 60-65 pounds. Definitely check out the demo on the Rivera page if you have not done so already. I would say the tone from the demo is very accurate compared to what I heard in the store. Good luck!

CAC, how would you say the clean channel is voiced? Is it the same Fender style cleans that they usually have or is it something different for the Tre's? How does it work in contrast to the high gain channel?

That sounds good. I dig my K-Tre head...definitely more for the modern and metal type music. The combo sounds like a pretty good rendering of the head and 4X12 deal, which is pretty impressive for an open back combo!
