Lightbulb need help buying the right fuzz

im running a yjm strat fulltone clyde deluxe-ocd to a marshall slpx reissue, and need to get a good fuzz for hendrix / black crowes tone .....if anyone can point me in the right direction, i was currently looking at hbe ufo, fulltone 69 or 70,mayer axis fuzz.....i listened to samples but its not the same rig u know... alot of fuzz's sounded like they're masked with alot of bass (kinda muddy), so it would be nice to have a fuzz w/a tone knob so to speak to remove the blanket ,anyone got any other suggestions, other pedals i might have overlooked?

I got YJM Strats, and play mostly thru NMV Marshalls or clones.
The ge fuzzes combined with the low output YJM pu's aren't going to have a whole lot of gain.
Better if you look at si fuzzes, IMO....

The RM Axis is great, but a bit bright.

Sweetsound Fillmore West
KR Gypsy Fuzz-
Fulltone 70

Check my sig. i got various fuzz clips up.

I haven't owned a 70 pedal in years.
Do a search. A guy recently put up a great 70 pedal clip....I believe in the Members Soundclips section.

For what it is worth, the HBE UFO really was bad for me. It was mushy and bassy and muffled on the fuzz side, excellenton the octave though.
Not sure if I had a bad one, but I'm just trying to say, I think I know what you mean! I love fuzzes that get that bright (but not brittle) sound when you turn down the guitar vol, but also get that Fillmore West...

I have the '69, and it is VERY nice, but I don't think it is what you are looking for either. I find it really fun, and very easy to setup, almost sounds like an OD, or can get a lot of things in between.

I was looking for a similar thing though to what you are, and I just ordered a MI Audio Neo Fuzz (they also have the GI Fuzz as well) and also a BJF Pink Purple Fuzz. Not sure which one I'll like best but am hoping one of them.

I also have an Analogman sunfce, and it is great, just was looking for something else, something different. Other than that have a BYOC (Which is probably my favorite right now) and Zvex Fuzz Factory.

I have a lot of hope for the Neo Fuzz when I get it. Seems like it has the tweakability of the FF almost, but a little less "dangerous" and I'm giving it a shot.

It cleans ok but very fast comparing lets say to the 69...

(not that these 2 fuzzes can be compared to each other, just a reference)
