Another perspective...

Two-Rocks are way out of my league price wise, but check this out:

How much? Order yourself a brand new Overdrive Signature AND a Kimock Signature.

and the above instrument, btw, is a Yamaha...

Where in the hell do you plug the cord in on that thing? Where are the strings?

Thanks for the compliments!

After seeing threads in the past that were based on people bashing the wiring styles of different builders; and myself being ruthlessly attacked for defending a well known high end builders style; I have decided to resist showing gut shots of our chasis.

I really like my way of wiring and more importantly it is critical to the performance of our circuit, but I do not see any benefits from risking criticism from those who don't understand amp building techniques or the need for different approaches with radically different circuit designs.

I learned from one of the best circuit designers out there; that much I will share

Thanks for your encouragement!

Yup, I wouldn't give more than $10k for a bassoon like that one.

definitely all hype. you shouldn't even consider buying one. in fact, if someone gives one to you, you should sell it without even listening to it.

I did play a Two Rock recently, not exactly sure what year or model, it was the best sounding amp I'd played in a while, next to my Cameron. But the Cameron fits my style better. If I were after a vintage rock tone, or even modern country I think the TR would suit me better than the Cameron.

I can honestly say that if I really, really, loved the way a $15,000. amp sounded I'd look into every possible way to afford it. If it meant getting a loan and selling stuff the $15,000. price tag would not stop me. I think $20,000. would though. Everyone has their limit and I think $15,000. would be mine. But I've not found 1. a $15,000. amp that 2. I really, really, love. So, I'll just stick with my $2650. Louis Electric that I do really, really, love. However, I can say I've listened to sound clips of several Dumble inspired amps; Two Rocks, Fuchs, Carol Anns, D'Lites, Glaswerks, Bludotones, etc., even Blueverbs (a little more blackface in nature), and they all got my attention...in a very positive way.

Hey man, my opinion is as valid as anyone else's. Actually I play grunge bassoon (well, actually clarinet) and so that bassoon isn't the best for my style - but regardless you'd never get me to shell out that kind of coin for ANY woodwind OR reeded instrument. Plus there are so many alternatives for what I'm looking for at 1/3 the price. Why, I could buy a clarinet, music stand (WITH a light), lessons for a year, AND front row tickets at 2 Steely Dan concerts for that kind of money. Or, I could buy 3 other really cool bassoons and sell them off in a month without losing my ass for that kind of coin.

People who buy that bassoon are stooopid. I have no idea how they came into their money but it sure wasn't because of their brains....
I'm sorry, I'm just speaking from the heart, telling it like it is, and I hope nobody on this board who bought this basson takes offense - none intended. Really, to each his own.

Hey man, it's cool. In fact I've told people many many times that that bassoon is certainly an alternative. It just doesn't do it for my ear. I've built bassoons that I liked a lot better (and a bunch of my friends too - we were all there at the bassoon-o-rama). In fact I had a freind who got that bassoon and rebuilt it, and now he covers up the Yamaha logo because he doesn't want Yamaha to get the credit.

But really, if YOU like it, that's really all that matters. Whatever hype floats your boat - that's what it's all about, man. No, really - I mean it. From the heart. I mean, since when can't a guy express his opinion about high end Yamaha bassoons without getting jumped on by all the Yamaha customer-lemmings??
