The OD abyss continues (OCD content)

Ok, I caved and bought an OCD. Nice sounding pedal...a little dark for my taste, but I find it works perfectly for a particular sound I like. I used it last night on a gig, but ended up using my TIM most of the time.

What's the deal with running the OCD at 18 volts...and how are you folks doing it?

I've got a V2 that I run with an old answering machine power supply that puts out 13.8 volts.

I didn't like the way it sounded at 9 volts as much. It's much tighter and more dynamic with more voltage.

Just buy an 18V adapter. Dunlop has several voltage models in their line up. Check their website.

Fulltone sells them as well.

I remember seeing some sort of 9v to 18v step up transformer or something in the pedal board thread, but I don't want to sift through nearly 500 pages. It was a little square box about a quarter or third the size of an OCD. Anyone

The 18 volts makes it sound more dynamic, touch sensitive and even more amp like. I've been running my vs.2 at 18v for quite a while now and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Jeez, are you kidding me?...My OCDv2 doesn't sound dark at all. If the OCD is dark, I'd hate to hear what brite is like.

If I wanted to try the 18volt thing, do I have to make any adjustments or mods to my OCD, or do I just switch to an 18volt supply?

Is the Godlyke Power Pump compatible with my PP2+?

I have the ocd inline with my TIM and BOR and both seem to color the sound less and maybe it's just me, but it seems quite a bit darker in the upper mids and highs.

I just got a v3 OCD, and have had the same experience in both LP/HP modes, through both of my amps. Not a lot of Highs, more mid/bottom it seems. But that works for me, it's never shrill as I've heard about the v1's.

The OCD is not dark at all IMO.

I've never even had my tone knob above 2:00.

Yeah, I found the OCD (which I still have, I just don't use) to be WAY too bright for my ears. I could handle it at lower gain, it kind of added a "sparkle" that at the time I really liked, but even then at higher gain (which is most of the gain range to my soft ears), it was just to bright to take.

Wait, V4? I thought they were only up to v3? What serial number does v4 start with? I bought mine about two weeks ago, serial number 13405 I think. Is this a new revision?

This one is a V3...just bought it. I'm hearing the same (kinda dark) from other sources as well.

Again...Godlyke PP compatible with PP2+?

Ah, I do have v1. I didn't realize he had changed the voicing with the newer versions.
