dd3 won't pull off the board my digitech delay
today we had a longer shootout with my guitarist friend who took over his DD3. i was very excited cause i really wanted to see "another" delay pedals...
i have my digitech delay that is getting harder and harder to qick off my pedalboard. i am not sure what i was expecting but to be honest, i thought that, being so used by so many, even famous, guitarists, it should be a outstanding sounding pedal. but, there wasnt anything my one could not do and again, to be honest, my delay, when A/Bd, sounded much much better, being truly objectiv here. so, i am not sure why pedal do underrate this pedal, because it is up to other standards and more than that. not to mention that i am in love with those modulated delays |

Digitech is the Hyundai of the guitar world. Too affordable to be considered seriously.
And good luck with that syntax

I agree. If you're talking about the Digitech X-series delay pedal, than yes, It's a pretty darn good delay for the money.
Does a maxon analog AD999 sound warmer? yes. Does a DD20 have more flexibility? yes Does a timefactor have better build and way more options and more prisitine sound? yes Could 99% of the music listening popuation hear the difference in a loud, dirty club with a sh*t PA system? No. ![]() Considering the price of the Digidelay, it can't be beat. I'd say it's one of my top budget pedal purchases ever. I keep the Digidelay in a true bypass loop, in my Bogner Shiva's FX loop. Oddly enough, this is one of the only pedal setups that actually works well in the FX loop and doesnt kill the tone. |

still prefer the dd-3 after trying both... IMO, i haven't found a peal under $200 thats cleaner.

Well when they came out with the DD-2 it had a big chip in it that does sound more analog, and way better to my ears, and a lot of other peoples ears. Then they changed to the DD-3 and used the same chip, and the inerds were pretty much the same pedal. Then, Boss redesigned the pedal with the smaller chip that many believe doesn't sound as good. The DD-2 and Big chip DD-3 were made in japan.

Don't be too harsh. I'm sure he makes good money writing for those ebayers in China who sell those les paul knock offs.

Boss DD-3 Digital Delay Pedal
gee, i wonder what they were trying to sound like. There are plenty of good mods out there to make this pedal sound more "analog" (why not buy an analog delay?).... but its the definitive sound of the digital delay. No "warmth", no "warble", none of that crap. I use mine for leads and its the perfect sound... I don't want repeats with cut off highs for my dirty leads, and long fuzzed out sustained notes.... I want that big, clean cavernous echo/delay sound when I stomp on this pedal and that is exactly what it does. |

but yes being digital it IS very digital sounding.. if u listen closely enuf.. u can hear 00100011 01011010 01100110 10100010 ..... but it IS the most versatile thing |

Ive been using a DD-3 for years. The only boss pedal i still use on a regular basis. It doesnt do anything really weird, but i like the fact that i can turn the delay time knob and it doesnt chop up the sound.
