Anybody Cover any Badfinger Tunes?...

They really had some great songs. We do "No Matter What", but I'd like to take on "Day After Day", or "Baby Blue".

Do any of their tunes?

My current drummer toured with them. He says they left him in a motel and booked with his gear. For some strange reason he is not willing to do their tunes now.

I played in a Brit-Invasion outfit from 2000-2005, and we stretched the gimmick into the 70s to do several Badfinger tunes....

here's an all-too unimaginative cover of Day After Day:

I still do Baby Blue from time to time in the band I'm with now...just love that sort of pop songwriting.

Very cool. Not only the standard answers but some interesting stuff, too.

I recorded Baby Blue once for a posssible slot on a record and the record company veto'd that tune.
It is a great song though

That's something. I wouldn't mind hearing the other side of that story.

^Yes me too. He did in fact work with them for quite a while. He did get stranded on the road. He did lose his drums. How all this came to pass is still not clear.

The cover band I'm in does "No Matter What". Baby Blue is a big fave of mine.

We sneak "No Matter What" into the middle of a 6 song Beatles medley.
They had some great songs on their 2nd album.

If I was willing to do covers, I'd cover me some Badfinger.

Presunably it wasn't Pete Ham and Tom Evans (the songwriters) who abandoned the drummer.... -E

So exactly which early BF tunes were written by Paul? Didn't the Beatles cut one of them later on toward the end, and it appears on one of the anthologies? No Matter What perhaps?

I still swear it's George playing the slide on Day After Day.

Talk amongst...

I think that the only BF song that Paul wrote was "Come and Get It." I love power pop!

You're right. I just googled it after my post. Story goes he was producing and made the band (against their wishes) cut it just like the demo he did, promising if they did it would be a hit (!)

I read that Paul cut all the parts on the demo of the tune that's on the anthology. Sounds just like the Badfinger version.
