AC30 CC - Explain something

I don't even own one, but for the life of me, I'll never understand why Vox still chooses to put the AC30's controls backwards. I noticed the AC15CC has the controls facing the player, but for some reason, they kept the nostalgic look for the AC30CC's.

I'm sorry, but if you're gonna advertise the new AC30CC as a tweaker's delight, you ought to make the controls facing the tweaker eh?

It is perhaps the sole reason I can't bring myself to buy one. Anyone else annoyed with this?

If you're a set-it and forget-it kinda guy, I guess it doesn't mean much to you.....

I've been wondering the exact same thing. Very wierd....

*edit*
What i wondered was not why they are on top of the amp, i like that one but why they are facing backwards?

When the AC30CC amps came out, the biggest complaints were as follows:

1. Made in China
2. Effects Loop
3. Master volume

Since Vox was no longer offering a true vintage reissue people didn't like those things. However I think if the controls were facing forward, that would be a complaint too. Me I like the effects loop, MV, and would have liked to have the controls facing me so when I am in the front of the amp I can see them, but that is not how Vox does things....

Another reason to like my Hayseed.. I was able to get the controls on the front of the head.... ac30cc's sound great though... and so does my Hayseed with it's front facing controls...it's a little thing, but I like it..

It is annoying at first but I got use to it very quickly. I have the head version, so I have the option of facing the head backwards, but haven't done it, since I have trained myself to visualize backwards. They do sound good.

Another issue is the reverb tanks.............. They are bad. I have had to send 2 or 3 out for replacements- covered under warranty but still. Be prepared for it.

There are a few simple rules to guitars and amps.....
1. Guitars are made of wood. (carbon fiber and plastic doesn't cut it.)
2. Guitars don't have batteries. (sorry emg fans- its not a guitar )
3. Guitars are made in America.
4. Amplifiers have tubes.
5. Amplifiers are made in America.

Sorry- I'll stop now.

I've never understood why this is so much of a problem. Personally, I don't like amps with the controls on the top anyway since it makes them harder to get at, but it really makes no difference to me which way round the lettering is...

My major issue with the AC30CC is that getting at the tubes is the most monumental pain and effectively impossible in a gig situation. If your amp blows a tube, forget about replacing it on stage. You have to fully dismantle the amp, which includes undoing screws which are difficult to see, let alone get at. I wouldn't gig with one for that reason. I'm not even sure I'd want to experiment with tube types on one, it's a lot of work to do something which should be simple.

Even vintage AC30s are nowhere near that bad, you just undo four screws on the back panel and slide the amp tray out.

The reverb tanks do appear to be pretty bad too, but that's unfortunately common right across the board now, it's not just a Vox problem.

It dates back to when guitarists sat in the orchestra with their amps in front of them on the riser. Vox isn't a big player these days, and they seem to be aiming at two niche markets - vintage and digital. It's a vintage touch that costs them nothing.

I must be old school, but I have always thought that it would be nice if my PR had top mounted controls.

I personally like the aesthetic of not having controls on the front of the amp. As far as being upside down, once you use the amp a few times, you remember which way to turn them, no big deal.

I agree 100%! After playing a CC2 at about a dozen gigs, I STILL have a hard time turning to the amp and properly setting the vibrato for one song right in the middle of a set!

Just plain stupid, IMO! Turn the freakin' controls around the RIGHT WAY!!!

The panel is unusual compared to other I amps I have however, the tone it produces does not let it bother me one bit...

Why even bother replacing the crappy stock reverb pan. I just got an Accutronics for about $25. I got the '2' decay (stock pan is '3' which is longer). The reverb now sounds a lot better....
