OK, I have ordered the "mega switch", the pot's, and the easy to find .022 and .047 caps. I just need to get the 470k and 150k resistors as well as the 680pf cap.

Does anyone have a source for these? Radio Shack has the 470k but no 150k's (the closest is 220k). They also don't have the 680pf cap. I do have a Mouser catalog but they have hundreds to choose from. I want to make sure I order the right parts.

I get mine from an Amp tech friend , you could try a local repair shop, I'm sure they would sell you a few parts.

This site has the hard(er) to find 150k resistor and 680pf cap. that you can't get at Radio Shack. Scroll down to the "Electrical Switches & Wiring" section-

could someone please post some wiring-variations with STACKED humbucking SC in neck and middle position ? these would have 4 conductors like the bridge HB and offer the extra flavor of series/parallel and in/out-of-phase tones.

Has anybody tried a stacked 'bucker in the middle? Wonder what it would sound like?

depends which one but mostly they sound like crap single coils are cheep ceramic buckers . Dimazio areas and VV are the best but there are some other good ones.

I haven't tried it. Personally I like conventional single-coils in the neck and middle so that you don't have a comprimised #4 "out of phase" sound. The #2 is a comprimise in this H/S/S setup as you have the middle single coil and a split bridge humbucker. I would think the only advantage of a stacked humbucker in the middle would be if you want a full humbucker sound in that position? I don't tend to use the middle pickup on its own very much.

Yeah. I don't use the middle position by itself much either, but I'm always willing to experiment with different ideas. You never know.

I've got one from DiMarzio, but can't figure out how to attach it.

The FAQ says "To attach a file to a new post, simply click the [Manage Attachments] button at the bottom of the post composition page", but I don't see it.

It took a while but I finally got all my parts together and wired everything up. It is a perfect setup for me. My neck & middle Lollars sound the same as before and the Hot Rails in the bridge sounds great. It was muddy with the old wiring scheme. A nice surprise is that the #2 (split HR and middle Lollar together) position sounds great as well.

This is definitely the wiring setup I will be using for all HSS guitars from now on.

If it's a strat with 3 knobs anyway, why not have a seperate volume for the bridge pickup and a master tone, or a tone just for the bridge or just for the neck, whichever you'd find more usefull.
That could be done easily enough.

Anyone tried this?

I've been thinking about trying it on a strat rebuild I am doing right now, I bet I would still only end up with 5 sounds I liked, but I might like em better than the 5 standards.

On second look, the All Parts Mega Switch (http://www.allparts.com/store/electr...00,Product.asp) is slightly different. Does anyone know if any changes need to be made with the HSS diagram if using a Fender Super Switch?

Wow, that's some crazy wiring schemes. I'd like to try some of those ideas. But then again, I prefer to keep it simple as possible.

I try to use a humbucker that sounds good with a 250K to me. Like a Duncan JB seems to like a 250K and it's said Duncan made it for use with a 250K. I don't know if that's true.

One thing I don't see mentioned is the lack of tone control on the bridge position of a strat. It's brighter because of that and since I don't use a tone on the bridge much, I guess it makes up some of the difference using a 250K with a humbucker.

One of the best sounding H-S-S strats I played was a Fender Floyded guitar and it had a Dimarzio PAF pro in the bridge. No super switch or fancy wiring, just a five way normal wired. It was plenty bright in the bridge position. It may have had a TBX master tone, I can't remember. It sounded really good.

I never seen it as a law that 500K must be used with buckers and 250K should use singles. In a Gibson, sure you're using a thick piece of mahogany with humbuckers and brighter pots make sense, but a strat is bright by nature already. I think 250K is much better for a strat style guitar for both style pickups.
