Blues Deluxe RI vs. Hotrod Deluxe
Which of these amps will give me the most clean headroom?
I'll probably ugrade the speaker to a Eminence Cannabis Rex. Thanks

I've played both and I prefer the tone of the Blues DLX.
Although, I believe the HRD has more headroom for clean. The Blues Dlx breaks up fairly early before it gets too loud.

I wonder the Omega Mods can do for the headroom.
I was thinking of getting a HRD and modding it through them.

Not sure, but I would assume the HRD.
The Blues has a warmer tone and more breakup, but much sweeter tone.

If you are looking for headroom, I think the HRD is the cleaner. I have one, and I highly recommend swapping preamp tubes. Obviously, you don't need to rebias to swap those.
I have a 12AY7 in the V2 socket, and a 12AT7 in the V3 socket (phase inverter). Check this site out: http://studentweb.eku.edu/justin_holton/faq.html#preamp

I'm looking at the Omega Mods as well sometime down the road. I think they will increase the headroom and add warmth to the HRD. For now, I'm looking for something that will stay clean and take pedals well and I don't want to lug a twin around. Also, I like the price of the HRD and the Blues Deluxe. Once again, thanks for all of the advice.

I would go BDLX if you are more guitar straight in player using boosts but getting most of the tone and drive from the amp. I favor the internal tone of the BDLX myself. I'm thinking the HRD will be fine for you and then you've got those killer Omega mods for later...

My Blues Deluxe reissue gets pretty darned loud without breaking up with a Tele, esp in the low input. I agree that it sounds sweeter than the HR. Takes pedals very well.

I would get the blues deluxe whether you are planning to mod it later or not. I assume Omega can mod Blues Deluxes as well...
