Other than the speaker, what's the diff between the Vox AC15CC1 and the AC15CC1X?

I know the speakers are different, but is there anything else in the amp that makes it so much more expensive?

That's a huge price difference for just the speaker.

Out of curiosity, if I were to replace a speaker in an AC15, what would be a good alternative to the blue? I ask because a guy on the forums is selling a unspeakered AC15CC1X.

I actually prefer the G12M Greenback for AC tones. But that's just my personal preference. You can usually pick them up for around $100. A little less if you buy used.

The Emi Red Fang is very close to a Blue in tone, well worth considering if you buy the amp.

I'd say don't immediately dismiss that wharfdale. I (and some others on this board) think it's a pretty damn good speaker. At least break it in...JMO

I'll agree here. I picked up an AC30CC2 last night with Wharfedale's from my local guitar shop and they sound excellent, and mine haven't even broken in much.

Like I said, there's a guy selling his AC15 sans a speaker, so I'm trying to figure out my options.

I tried out some amps today and I found the AC15 to sound kind of thing compared to the AC30. I play two extreme ends of the noise spectrum: completely clean and heavily oscillated noise. What kind of speaker woud I be looking for in the Ac15? Or should I even be looking into an AC15?

Definately get the Blue. I've had Fangs in an AC30, and while they are a damn good speaker, they ain't no blue. I tied out an AC15cc with a blue and the difference from the stock Warfdale was just night and day.

Northcoast music says the one without the blue is a particle board cab. Can someone check their cab and see.

It's particle board. It's a good match for the plastic VOX nameplate. I thought it was a bit heavy for a 15 watt amp. In a weak moment of generosity, they used 13-ply birch cleats for the lower back panel.

The cheaper one is the CC1. The X must stand for extra stuff.
