I posted this over in the dealers area, but this is actually a better location:

what a great OD!
I tested mine last night with a US tele (Duncan Broadcaster/ Vintage Rhythm), through my custom 30 watter, and got some great OD tones.

I tested the prototype, and Nick has made the right adjustments, so there is a wide variety of terrific tones available by adjusting the Level/ Drive/ and Mid toggle. Smooth sustain with a little nasal chirp (in a good way, depending on the mid toggle setting) and great clarity.

you will NOT be disappointed, especially at this price

Ok, the descriptions are not enough for me to get an idea of what to expect. Maybe I'll just have to wait for more reviews. The "explosive" attack and singing sustain descriptions make me think it is similar to a Crunchbox. Maybe lower gain? Is the low end tight like a Crunchbox, or more loose like a Rat? Nick may not feel comfortable comparing it to other pedals, but this would help to grok it.

The "cascading gain stages like a tube amp" design sounds like the MI Audio Tube Zone design, but the TZ was non-opamp, any sound similarities? Does it have a more symmetrical tone like a TS pedal, or, I assume more asymmettrical and Marshallish? Does it retain a good top end when you roll down the guitar volume knob?

Email Nick and ask him.

I had a question for Nick and he replied to my email quickly, answering my question directly with detail.

I will be ordering one soon!

Mine came yesterday. Only had a few minutes to try it because I had to go to a hockey game (would have been better off playing the new pedal but that's a whole 'nother rant!).
Sounds great! I think I know understand what a "transparent" pedal is. I'm a light OD kind of player and this one sounds like it'll work well for me. I'll spend more time with it over the next few days and report back later, need to experiment with the trim pots and all!

So far reports all seem positive, but are without any descriptive reviews or comparisons.

From virtually no gain (can be used as a boost, plenty of extra volume with the gain turned down) to, well enough gain for me, but not too much. I'd say transparent. With the gain at 9:00 my guitar sounds like it does clean but there's a little bit of hair around the edges. Turn it up and it gets dirtier but still seems to retain all the inherent tone. The switch for voicing the mids is great, but I'll be keeping mine on flat most of the time.

Comparisons? I just sold my LTD, I like this better, it definitely has a flatter EQ.
That's about it here, I haven't had dozens of OD pedals like some people here.

If Nick had a 10 month waiting list and charged $300 everyone would think this was the best pedal ever!

I played mine for a day before my friend "borrowed it". Kind of hope to reaquire said pedal I heard mine as being transparent, throaty( maybe thick and syrupy) then into some fuzz. BUT-this may be my memory playing tricks on me.
In my thinking, If Nick was able to promote his pedals as much as some can/do, there would be more 'buzz' about these. But his priorities are school right now, so his day will come.
peace
