The Girl Once Lost - New Tune

www.soundclick.com/konstantine

I just finished mixing a new tune, it's called "The girl once lost", lyrics are from a friend called Elias and the vocals from another friend Angelvoice. Composition arrangement, recording and mixing by myself...

I hope that you like it.. please let me know what do you think...

Quite an ambitious arrangement ...
Great guitar tone on the first solo ...

The voice is a little too dry & dominate compared to the rest of the mix ...
Plus his pitch isn't quite as accurate on the lower notes as on the higher notes..
(maybe a smidgen of pitch correction would solve that ...)
However, with that being said.. that guys got some hellacious vocal chops ...

Dug following the trail of your creative process ...
You're a very talented guy Konstantine ...

Lucidology, thanks for checking it and for the kind words...

I made a new mix with the vocs not so dry and the piano a bit louder, do you mind checking it?

thanks again,

Konstantine

Improvement all around with the new mix Konstantine ...
The piano turned up made for a much better balance with the voice..
& the reverb on the voice was much more forgiving with the little pitch problems here on the vocals ...

However, when the vocalist goes up this upper ranges it pops out from the recording a little too much here & here...
I don't know if you're using a compressor or not, but that might level it out some...

Keep it up Konstantine... as a guitarist & producer you're on your way..

hey lucidology, thanks for listening again...

vocs was the main problem with it, because the singer lives about 8 driving hours away from me and he couldn't come here to record the song, so we worked through the internet with mp3s and msn and he recorded vocals at his home with a very cheap sennheiser mic and a 30$ crappy Art mic preamp into his Audigy...

when he sent me the waves to mixed them with the rest of the song, the quality was really bad, there were Pops and SSSes all over the place, some part were loud, some parts were too soft... using only a compressor wasn't taking care of the problem only until the settings were really high making the vocs sound very unnatural, so i had to use automatation for the channel's volume and use different EQs and Comps for different parts..

it could be better? i believe so, but considering all that and knowing the original tracks I'm really happy with it as it is now because it may not be great but its IMO passble good.

I think it better to put my efforts and energy to a new project now...

anyway, again thanks for your interest, it means a lot to me as a support and also considering your great work!!

all the best

Find it very cool that you're working on stuff like this ...

Keep it the good work & keep me posted okay!!
