The ones you see on Ebay are mostly profiteers, not people not satisfied with their pedals. Chances are most of the pedals have never even been played. Because the Hermida waiting list is so long, people who buy them at the regular price of under $200 can sell them for 3 or 400 on Ebay.

I would be fine with paying $229 or maybe a bit more to avoid the wait list, but $300 to $400 is a bit steep. What would you pay to avoid the wait?

Because it's a pedal. An effect pedal. Another drive box.
As with a DS-1 or Klon, some people will like it, and some people won't.

zen is great if you want what zen does.
profiteers out there.
sellers sell.
life changes.
ears differ.
merit is subjective in this case.
this topic is old.
i luv my zen.

It's not like you can walk into GC and try it out, you need to order it to try it, and those who don't love it will sell it.

because we buy every "next thing" and when it arrives and we still sound like ourselves, it gets tossed.

+1 . . . it took me a lot of buy and tries with pedals before I understood that.

I recently got my Zendrive (direct), and I will say that it is the most unique OD pedal I have owned to date. Very cool tones in this box, from Steely Dan to Jeff Beck to Brad Paisley. I'm loving mine and just begining to scratch the surface with it.

Not for sale.

I still love my Zen. Great unit.
The thing I like most is that it remains tight in the low end while yielding a beefy thick tone in the mid and upper register.

I just posted a tune using it as well as the new Ethos and King Of Tone.
All 3 great units

Same here. I have plenty of ods with MORE than 2 tone conmtrols, but the ZD's tone controls are voiced just right for me -- right amount of bass and as much "teeth" as I want in the upper register, and it still "feels" warm. Hard to describe, but sure is nice to play.
