I actually like it much better that way. It makes it very easy to select either a lower or a higher gain sound before you even engage the pedal. Otherwise you have to switch two switches if you want to go from cleaner rhythm to a searing solo. I own the J-Drive TR, which has independant drive and boost and I know from experience that, for me, I like the setup of the fulldrive better. I have to add that the boost channel of the fulldrive sounds very good to my ears, I use it a lot. I like it better than a cleanboost into the normal overdrive channel of the Fulldrive.

First a Barber TP, then a Barber TP EQ, which is more of a dedicated 2 channel od with 2 volume and 2 gain pots. The FD II is a great pedal and I doubt I would ever sell my original one from '97.
