What's your favorite RAT mod?

Keeley, Allums? Are there others?

I did the Reutz mod...put a resistor on a switch. Gave it less gain and more body...I like it alot more now!

There doesn't seem to be a lot you can do to the Rat to improve it without losing the real character.
Apart from the Reutz mod, most mods are mainly component quality upgrades from what I've seen.
The Mo'd schematic I've seen floating around is virtually identical to the original apart from a clipping option on a switch, and better components (which many have argued don't make a difference - see SMD discussions ? ).

Thanks for the input! Man, a Mo'd?!? Is the Freakshow Rabbit similar to a Mo'd at all? (hope I'm not stepping into anything )

I found the Reutz mod info - sounds interesting!

Any thoughts on MohoMods?

This is to eazy as kitty just brought a rat to the door that was modded. You see kitty removed and ate his head.

LOL - that reminds me of something I saw once (in a book--can't remember the name of it). Had a cartoon of a cat dressed up like a pirate with the accompanying caption:

Love them little mousies
Mousies what I love to eat
Bite they tiny heads off
Nibble on they tiny feet

I think the Vodka Mods Rat is the best I've tried. I've also had the Keeley, but the VM was more flexible.

I'm not sure why there are so many RAT mods. I like my Turbo RAT exactly as-is, really.

My stock Rat sounds good, but I plan on tweaking to see what other tones I can coax out of it, very harmonically rich overdrive/distortion as is though..

I love my Keeley Rat! Perfect higher-gain pedal for my needs.

I was never completely happy with the Rat - seemed a bit harsh to me, so I did the Ruetz mod with internal pot, but still wasn't satisfied. So I embarked on experimentation with the clipping diodes. A lot of soldering/desoldering later, and I ended up with an OA81 and one half of an AC125 - a much smoother sound to my ears. I suppose I could have added a switch, but as I didn't like the old sound, there didn't seem much point.

Has anyone tried one of those ProCo Solos(originally called Ratzo)? They have a 3 way clipping selection and a scoop knob.
