The organ secret on the micro pog...

Okay...so I know not everyone has the means to do this, but here's how I've covered the ground. People discuss how the micro pog doesn't have detune, so it doesn't sound as much like an organ right? I mean...sure it sounds......sort of like one...with three octaves at once...but really now. Well...this weekend while I was out of town I remembered that I run my whammy before my micro pog. As soon as I got home, I put it in the shallow detune setting, and then kicked on the micro pog and...complete difference. I still wish it could have the initial bass note and then swell in some harmonys like the hog does....but this sounds stellar. I like to kick in the maxon cs-9 chorus subtly and also do some slight swells with the volume pedal, and I cannot get over how good it sounds. I'll try to do a demo of this on tuesday.

I think the Micro Pog gets great organ tones by itself, but was looking for a way to get it a little more sustaining and full - have to try this out. Anyone else try it with other vibe or rotating speaker pedals yet?

I thought the sound was way too clean and the high octave too prominent. Sounds more like the organ tone from one of those higher end all-in-one digital Casio keyboards on the cathedral setting. Not rock or even close to authentic sounding.

Back off the tone, add a touch of dirt, bring that high octave down and throw some motion in there, a slow chorus or a leslie simulator.

Glad you liked it. I'll be sure not to use any of the advice.

Hey man, you posted saying how you could cop an organ tone using the micro POG. You posted a video of what you perceived to be said tone, that opens you up to rebuttals and criticsm. If you are too fragile to accept some suggestions then keep your precious, little crystal clean baby tones to yourself.

This board is full of soft shelled cry babies. GEEZ you can't give anyone any criticsm without them getting their bowels in an uproar. The shit sounded lame and WEAK! How's that. Go listen to some Jimmy Smith records and then give your 'organ' tone another shot. Your tone was like an organ, a male organ.

It's not that one can't take criticism. you were attacking in your statement. A disagree in your opinions would have been enough.

The video was just for an initial organ to build off of. I didn't use any reverb or delay, and when I used my chorus, it was light...just to show a difference in using the detune from the chorus setting. I wasn't saying it sounded spot on, I mean its a series of guitar pedals making the sounds of a completely different instrument. The idea was taking a pedal (that people wanted to sound like an organ, but only being an octave up pot and an octave down pot with no detune) and adding elements to get it closer. There are lots of ways to tweak the highs and lows. You're getting a little overreacting.

Let me ask you this, did you find my suggestion of backing off the tone, adding a touch of dirt, bringing that high octave down and throwing some motion in there, a slow chorus or a leslie simulator, reasonable? Did those tone suggestions resonate just a little with you? Could they possibly work in making the "organ tone" more authentic or was I way off base and out of line for even suggesting them?

If you're answer is yes then stop crying like a little girl and use the advice. Sorry if I hurt your feelings by comparing your tone to a Casio keyboard, next time I'll know to treat everyone here with kid gloves and sugar coat everything. C'mon. Are we men or are we sensitive little mice?

For what it's worth, I spent the extra $$ to get the full sized POG, and man, what a difference! It really DOES it. Use a dejavibe or a chorus or tremolo pedal with it, (gotta run it on and off ) and a volume pedal in front, and you can totally get the organ sound.

Nice job BtMan - I'm gonna grab a micro pog soon. I liked your video and demonstration very much...to the point where I want to get a micro now. I don't know if I should thank you or scream profanities at you for making me want more equipment - LOL!!!!!

Very nicely done,
Bill
