Smile What's your favorite Marshally lightweight 112 boutique combo?

Is there such a thing?

As the Tone King Meteor II is to Fendery sounds, is there a really cool lightweight but big sounding combo in the Marshall vein? I know something like the Germino Club 40 would be awesome, but I'm hoping to find out if there's any small combos that players love along those lines.

Master volume amps OK, single channel is OK, channel switchers a bit better... the whole gamut really.

btw--I don't care for "single ended, Class A tones" as well as "Class AB" and I like 6V6 toobs quite a bit. I'm already familiar with the Marshall Studio combo, wondering what else is out there.

Marshall made JCM 800 50 and 100 watt, single 12" combs. That should fit the bill.

Would the 50 watter be relatively light to lug around? (I'ma gettin' older)

A Soldano Atomic 16 is an incredible amp and tiny and lightweight.

It's actually 20 watts and sounds huge and you do get that wonderful Soldano tone.

I would be guessing 50 to 55 lbs. Not as bad as a Boogie but not light either. At least its not bulky. I loved the way my 83 JCM 800 50 watt sounded but couldn't hack the weight and bulkiness any longer. I would definitely consider a JCM 800 single 12" combo. They sound great.

Budda. Alluminum chassis which makes it super light. Sd18 only 45 lbs. SD30 only 47 lbs.

I think all your Marshall combos are getting into that big heft category.

I'm sure there are a tons of modded 1974X camp amps over in US but I'm not the best person to help - if you were in UK I'd recommend Cornell 18/20, but there will be more cost effective solutions for you. Perhaps someone else can mention a few more....

+1000

I have a Budda SDII 18 and a SDII 30, both 1x12 combos. They sound fantastic and are light weight.

the 18 is a pound or two lighter than the 30 maybe 45 lbs compared to 47 lbs.

It's like having a hot rodded plexi marshall in a small box along with a AC30ish type thing going on....

Classic to modern tones all in one user friendly enclosure ! Great cleans as well !

Give Ace at ThunderTweak a call. His Buzz Bomb amps are great, and nicely priced to boot.
