Any experience with an Electro Harmonix Wiggler?

This looks like a pretty cool vibrato/tremelo pedal. Has anyone checked it out? I'm wondering if it has alot of useable sounds vs. crazy EH stuff that is cool for a (short) while. Is it worth the $? The Holy Stain has tremelo also and sells for almost 1/2 the price. Any opinions on that? Thanks.

I loved that pedal. My favorite trem pedal. However, it had a hum that would not go away. I used the EH wall wart, plugged it into different outlets, found some tricks to try on the various forums, nothing got rid of the hum. I sent it back to EH for repair and they said "it's not any noisier than other Wigglers coming off the line". That's not good enough for me. It's a shame EH has so many noise issues with their pedals, because there effects are great otherwise.

FWIW, I ended up with a Guyatone Flip Trem (also tube-driven), and really like it. It's sounds almost as good as the Wiggler did to me. And it's dead quiet.

Too bad about the noise issues, was it noisy all by itself?
I beleive it's really just a crapshoot with noise--with pedals from Japan, US, China whatever, plus vintage pedals all going onto one board...if they work together its miraculous.

The wiggler looks very cool though.

It was noisy when engaged... a low hum. Some forumites suspected a ground hum, and I did all the tricks to remedy it, even talked to the original designer on one forum, he tried to help me & he said it should NOT be noisy, but we couldn't get it quiet. Then I sent it to EHX & was told "it's a noisy as all of them." Gee thanks. I recently purchased a Holy Grail+ with baited breath, expecting to plug it in and have noise issues. It's quiet... IF you use the EHX walwart. DC Brick = noise. I've read the PP2+ with it's isolated outputs can handle the HG/HG+.

What is it with EHX & noise issues?!?! Someone here once put it wonderfully... "EHX holds the patent on noise issues."

i've had a bandmate use one for ages. it irritated the heck out of me - it did have a decent trem sound going on, plus the usual EH weirdness. And yes, the noise... but i always felt that it was the weak link in his signal chain, tonally speaking. it really sucked a lot of tone. he argued that the tubes "warmed up" his tone, and for a long time refused to do a true-bypass listening test. after taking it out of his signal chain and listening to his newly un-wiggled guitar tone, the pedal stayed permanently off his board.

try it, and if you like it get it. but definitely not something i'd consider imho.
