X2 Upgrade Cables. Worth the extra $? Differences in cables...

Before you shoot me, I know, I know, there is a huge, enormous thread on the X2 already... checked it out. I just wanted to start a more specific on on the replacement cables.

I've already decided upon getting an X2 system, after trying out my other guitarist's lastnight.

As good as a High Quality Cable? Not exactly, but VERY very close. Close enough for me in a noisy, crowded bar full of rowdy drunks.

Now... I have heard testimonials that the Evidence Lyric HG guitar cable is amazing. And I believe it. I think my george L's sound better than cheapo radio shack patch cables, and I like my Canare cords better than budget GC cords...

That being said, how much difference will the X2 upgrade cable make? Is the Evidence one REALLY worth the extra dough, if you're just gonna send the signal thru the wireless anyway?

Seems like microwaving a piece of Filet mignon to me...

Or, is that 2 feet between the guitar and transmitter crucial cable distance that will keep your signal as pure as possible before its beamed thru thin air...

Opinions please.

I have the X2 and the stock cable. I think it sounds great.

Aren't the upgraded cables like 50 bones?

That's not worth it...to me.

I don't have the X2 but have EA cables throughout my rig. YES. They are worth their weight in gold.

Yeah, I don't doubt that a 20' EA cable would beat out most other cables out there, but I wanna know if 2' of EA into a wireless system is going to make any dang difference at all.

I agree. The stock cable sounded very good. The whole system suprised me, especially rolling down the guitar knob. Kept all the dynamics.

I think it squished the mids a bit, but I just bumped them up a "hair" on the amp to compensate, and I was very happy with the results...

I ponied up the extra dough for the premium cables. I'm not sure if it makes a difference....

I like to think it does....and they are of a MUCH, MUCH higher build quality.....so I just think the chance of a cable going bad is minimized.

I think it's a good idea to have a backup guitar to transmitter cable anyway....so I use the premium cable and save the stock cable as backup.

Great system isn't it ??? I love mine..

Not about tone for me- it's about durability... the upgrade has better connectors. yank the cable once hard by getting it wrapped around some drum hardware or something, and that's where it'll pay off.

Well, people who know about cables have always said that sound quality is not about the "weakest link," but rather about the cable system as a whole. If it's 20' of regular cable that you're using, I'd guess that using higher quality would make a difference regardless of whether the wireless quality is low. It's just a matter of how much you're willing to shell out to get marginally better tone

It is more of a durability issue than sound. I made my own cable using Canare GS6. It sounds a touch different but not $50 different. I bought mine last weekend and the included cable now as a soldered on 1/4" plug which is an upgrade from the previous molded plug. The 3.5mm plug is still molded but I would say the new cable is a step up. It still is a good idea to have a spare. I built my own and have about $10 into it.

So my advice would be to get one for durability reasons not for a tone improvement.
