Can a Bogner Shiva get that Bonamassa tone?

I know this is a dumb question since Joe uses a combination of 4 amps for his tone, but can an EL-34 Shiva get this tone with a Les Paul? I'm gassing for an amp that can get me there, and a Shiva seems like the one amp I haven't tried that might fit the bill.

Thanks,

Stormin!

I agree with Echoplex, it's in the hands.

Joes main amp, the one constant in his tone is the Silver Jubilee, so yeah, If you can pull off Bonamassa a Bogner would get you there.

I'd say no. Granted the hands thing is important but I found my Shiva to be a bit darker in the gain channel and lacking the bite the JB gets. Try a Budda, or a Marshall SJ.

I recently watched a YouTube vid of Joe describing his rig - he uses 4 amps with the Marshall Silver Jubilee on all the time. Interesting set-up and some really monster tone. He also uses EV12L speakers (2 ea 4x12 cabs) - which are very tight in the low end and probably the best all-around speaker ever made for guitar.

I own a EL34 Shiva with 1x12 CL80 speaker - which is the first speaker that I have ever played through that even comes close to EV12L (I played through this speaker for more than 15 years) .

I am really happy with the sounds coming out of my Shiva and with a 2x12 or 4x12 cab and the same delay he uses (which is on most of the time as well) I think you could get close...

I think you could come kinda close with EQ set right, and CL80 speakers which provide extra bite. V30s are a little to round sounding. (But that's what I prefer.)

+1 on the EVM12L speakers. I used them for many years in my main Marshall 4X12 cabs. Only sold them due to a bad back as I got older. If you have roadies to schlep your cabs, I'd recommend loading your cabs with some 12Ls. Look for deals on used ones off eBay. They usually go for around $100 each, used.

As for amps, Joe definitely has a Marshall-based tone going on. If you can't get a SJ, try a 6100. A highly boosted Super Lead/Bass would get you close, too

If that's the same video I'm thinking of it's at least a couple of years old and from what I'm told Joe has changed his rig somewhat.
He still uses the jubilee and the plexi but has a two rock and fuchs going now as well.
I was also told he's not using EV12L's anymore.
