SGs are under the weather . . .
I've never noticed any seasonal changes in the SF Bay Area with my guitars, but for some reason both my SGs have changed in a big way in the last few weeks (which coincides with some really cold, dry weather). The relief on both became quite noticeably excessive. Very strange. I had to give the truss rod on both a little over 1/4 turn.
Any other Bay Area residents experiencing unusual changes this year?

Room humidity should be a constant 45% and a nice temp range of 68 to73 degrees f It crucial for your guitars and your own skin as well. Untill you can get a room humidifier put your guitars in a case with wrung dry damp sponges in a baggie full of holes. They also make case humidifiers. Regards Joe Tee |

What is the typical size of the relief change when the weather gets cold and dry? Mine went from probably 0.005" to 0.025" pretty quickly.

I live in indiana, weather changes here are about as bad as it gets, and I dont think ive ever had to adjust the truss rod on my SG. My p bass is another story.

I have two SGs - A 61 SG/Les Paul and a 24 fret SG90.
The SG90 needs and adjustment several times a year. The 61 SG/Les Paul hasn't needed one in about 10 years. |
