Tonelab LE as a cab sim...

Is was wondering if it is possible to use the Tonelab LE exclusively as a cabinet simulator (for recording).

I've heard some great clips of how well it records direct, but a big selling point for me would be if I were able to do the following:

Tube amp - Weber MASS (line out) - LE (cab sim) - computer

I know some folks do this with the POD XT, but I'm interested in the LE as a unit overall.

I didn't reply initially, only because I'm using the ToneLab tabletop box and not the LE.

I have used mine to record directly. If you're like me, it is making the best of a bad situation. I'll use my ToneLab rather than trying to record by micing my amps just because my home is not the best acoustically isolated space to record.

The amp sims in the ToneLab are somewhat touch sensitive so you can get a good dynamic effect, but it ain't going to be as good as going into a good studio.

Thanks for your reply. My question though is, can the amp sim be turned off but the cab sim stay on?

I'm also just using the tabletop unit and for that one (and probably the SE also) you can only turn off the cab sims, not the amp sims. Not sure about the LE though - sorry.

Hey, thanks anyway! Maybe some LE users will chime in...

It is possible to turn off the amp sim and leave the cab sim on. There are a few others on these forums that are doing this. To turn off the amp sim, press the amp button twice. It should turn off the amp sim. As long as the cab sim button is still illuminated, you are all set. Similarly, I have used the amp sim without the cab sim for a little tone tweak to my Blues Junior. Running through the BJ, I use the Tweed or Blackface amp sim for a little sparkle. It seems to eliminate some of the boxy-ness of the BJ. I also program the far right foot switch (Control?) to turn on/off the amp sim so I can access my unaltered BJ tone at the press of a button.

Though I have one, I am at work and cannot verify, but it sounds like metz420 has the answer.

Just thought to mention, EVEN if you couldn't, you could always choose a totally clean uncolored amp, keep things well under any distortion or colouring, and use it that way, but as metz said, I think you can do it.

I believe the manual is online too, you might just want to download it and see if it mentions in there, though they often don't mention things beyond what they thought it would be used for.
