So, how close is the Briton to an AC30

... i know itīs not an exact clone of an AC30 but i would like to know if this amp has got that nice chime which old Voxes are so famous for.

is the amp very noisy and goes it into harmonically, rich feedback. i can remember someone stated itīs not the best ability the briton has.

how does it compare to the colonial which i also got...i guess or at least i hope thereīs a big difference.
i plan on using the briton with a 2x12 mojotone blues cab.
so everybody who has one please tell me your impressions

thanks,

mario

My friend has one... the 2x12 with Blues. It kinda has a vox tone but not a clone. The only thing i've ever heard sound like an ac30 is an ac30. The Briton has its own thing. Plus its DEAD quiet. sounds better to me. Plus it doesn't have the Vox buzz...

are you sure itīs dead quiet, cause with the colonial i thought that too.

ok, i wouldnīt call the colonial very noisy but my demeter tga is much more quiet.
what iīd really like to know is how the briton compares to the colonial. i mean thereīs nothing wrong with the colonial but itīs so damn loud

If we are talking about the Briton, not the Briton II head, then i haven't played one. The Briton II has an effective MV, and has a terrific clean and dirty tone (not high gain though). I'm sure the Briton would be less loud than the Colonial.

i owned one. basically if fender made an ac-30 you would get a brittonII. the amp does have some great qualities to it especially jumping the two channels.

jordan,

did you think the briton 2 was noisy or is it really that quiet. i know that may a little bit stupid question but i hate amps you would even hear the noise during playing.

It's one of those amps that likes every guitar. Like Voxes, it likes tele/strats/Rics/ 335's, but i was surprised on the great sounds i got with LP Standard. I would say the sound is a bit leaner than a Vox overall.

The Heritages belong in the Undervalued Amp Club along with old Ampegs.

folks,

thanks very much, that really helped me a lot...but is there anyone in this forum who owns both the briton and colonial.
i really would like to know if they are completely different sounding. you know i got the demeter as well which is pretty in the fender camp.
i guess with the briton2 i would have a very versetail rig:AOK

I had both the Colonial and the Briton II. I preferred the Briton. Less volume, plus a great MV worked for me. They definitely have a different sound. Actually, i liked the Victory, Victory head, and Briton II more than the Colonial. Nothing against the Colonial, i just think all the other amps are damn good.
