350 watt 1977 Twin Reverb?

A friend of mine has a friend who is trying to sell what he says is a rare 1977 Twin Reverb that has 350 watts. I told him I don't think there is such a thing but he insists that it's true.

Is there such a thing as a 350 watt twin reverb? What would the tubes be?

The only thing that comes to mind is the mid to late 70's Super Twin Reverb. IIRC, it's six 6L6's for 150 watts. These were the ones that Nugent used to use - six of them I believe.

alot of people mix up the rating on the back panel of an amp..its the power consumtion rating, or it may have an extension AC socket,and they put a sticker or it has a rating on the panel for this. And it may say 350 watts. This meaning you can plug things into that recepticle up to that amount.
Or the amp uses 150 watts of power.

It's the power consumption, not the power output. It says it next to the fuse holder. It will also say 135W RMS under the speaker jacks, which is the output power.

Either your friend hasn't spotted that, doesn't know much about how amps are rated, or is deliberately trying to exaggerate. It's a perfectly normal, and not rare at all, 135W Ultra-Linear model Twin Reverb, made in many thousands between 1976 and 1982.

Maybe the "Super Twin" doesn't sound so great, but regular Twins from that era are still an excellent amp. Big, clean sound. It's amazing how much people pooh-pooh these things, all a big fat myth. They sold thousands of them, and they are still valuable and usable.

Regular Twins probably do sound good. Super Twins, at least the one my friend had, was horrible.
